> this is 1st litter right?

nope 2nd but the first time i knew nothing about pups til the first was born.i had her examined and the vets told me she was having a phantom so no need for scan, then i took her for an ear infection, and MY vet told me pups were due from anyday.i was taking back the treadmill i had bought for her thinking she was overweight i thought i wasnt exersizing her enough)i got phonecall from oh to say pup had been born and to get home NOW.long story i will tell you soon when i get the chance,it was awful but we came through it.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.02.09 14:22 UTC

- By Romside [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:02 UTC
hmm, since about half hour.there was panting earlier but nothing like this .why?
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 15:04 UTC
no thats fine sorry, i just didnt know how long she had started this. a few hours are to be expected any longer panting, shivering etc.. i would consult your vet.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:04 UTC
if she starts to strane and pant for over an hour you will need to ring your vets but as she as only just started panting like this plz dont worry yet ,just before she as them she might start shivering dont worry its normal my girl shiverd for about 3hours before 1st pup .....but she girls dont do at all x
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:16 UTC

Its a wonderful, thrilling and humbling sight, love it when the new babes have popped out and their breathing well and wiggly and mum sets to cleaning and polishing her new babe, just lovely.

- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 15:33 UTC
hold on! do we have 3 litters? we have already had one havent we? so we have another two going on as we speak?
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:34 UTC
mine never have ....a few hours maybe but not days thank god :)
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 15:35 UTC
if she is pacing, panting, shivering and digging she is in the first stage of labour, i would not reccommend this going on for any longer than 2 hours (max) without seeking guidance from your vet
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:36 UTC
yes 1 been born ...the other is due today also but she asnt been back sinse thismorning but i dont think anything was happening ?
- By Romside [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:36 UTC

- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:38 UTC
very true mahonc... what youve been seeing with your girl over the last week is what your friend must be talking about !!
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:39 UTC

- By Papillon [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:41 UTC
I keep checking in about every 10 mins lol.
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 15:41 UTC
your lucky really, they usually wait till its the middle of the night
- By Romside [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:41 UTC
the heavy panting has stopped!!!!
what is going on,i dont understand this.shes gone and layed on the kitchen floor, and is breathing heavy but not panting
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 15:43 UTC
she is probably trying to cool herself down thats all
- By Romside [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:44 UTC
she delivered last time her first at 4:10 in the afternoon and was done by 7pm.
to be honest id prefer the middle of the night
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 15:45 UTC
A fantastic bit of advice for you given to me by my vet during whelping, DONT PANIC she will pick up on it, keep calm, go make yourself a cup of tea!
- By Papillon [gb] Date 06.02.09 15:46 UTC
It is more usual in the middle of the night but the advantage is should the vet be needed (fingers crossed not) then you wont get the out of hours charge to.
- By mahonc Date 06.02.09 15:47 UTC
>It is more usual in the middle of the night but the advantage is should the vet be needed (fingers crossed not) then you wont get the out of hours charge to

my vet advised me to take her for a short walk around the block to "jiggle them about a bit" worked aswel!!
- By Romside [gb] Date 06.02.09 16:01 UTC

>> in fairness she did weigh 80kilos

well i think £850 for your breed is bloomin good it  cost my freind who owns same breed as me £700 just for c section, then the antibiotics ect ect all on top.its all very expensive to have these puppies isnt it.
- By Papillon [gb] Date 06.02.09 16:01 UTC

> my vet advised me to take her for a short walk around the block to "jiggle them about a bit" worked aswel!!
