can i ask why bitches bite their bellys like they have an itch?shes in her bed and is biting her belly,every now and then,still no panting.she looks really uncomfortable now its as though shes trying to get a comfy spot to lay in.
i just wondered if belly biting was a sign of it being closer.the last temperature i got was at 37.4.
i think i read somewhere it should be lower than this am i right?

I certainly found the stretched belly very itchy when I was pregnant.  Proportionately bitches carry a lot more bump than we do.

For example the pups alone in my current litter weighed 7 pounds as a proportion of a 43 pound bitch that would be like an average human woman of 10stone having a baby weighing some 23 pounds

hi tamara ,her temp will drop to below 99f ...normal temp is around 101.5 but its best to start with 100f ...the last week her temp can go up and down like a yoyo lol

when her temp drops below 99f and stays low for 24h this is a sign she will be having them ....but could still be 24h before she does xx

the morning 1 was always lower lol and id think YES today is the day and then it would go back up at the night time 1 lol ,but when i took it at night and it was very low i knew it was time but she didnt have her 1st pup till dinner time the next morning lol

Hi Tamara, thank you thank you! But i think  the best part of this entire ordeal was waking early this morning after a long night of uninterupted sleep *hubby watched the babes* Waking up to see all those little bodies wiggling, and alive, and momma so happy and such a momma!! They had their first check ups today, so did momma, and we're all doing A ok. Pups got their nails trimmed, set up appts for pups first shots. Yay. My bitch is such a great mother, she hasn't left her nest for more than a minute, and my boy is actually very "ok" with the situation, he likes that he gets to sleep in his own bed. Now i cant wait for them to start opening their eyes, and potty training, oh thats when they are the absolute cutest! Tamara by the way my bitches temp was at normal for about 3 hours before she started whelping, i almost flipped, but hey thats what happens!

i know shes still got time but ive been getting all the signs shes starting and then it all stops lol,so ive been making doubly sure incase she does start.
i really do think shes gonna go over due now so ive had no sleep for two weeks lol.

independanent im so pleased things are going great for you.get as much sleep as you can trust me you wont realise until its snuck up on you just how tired you can get lol.xxx

Thank you tamara, thank goodness i took a great long sleep last night! The pups are amazing, they are such good puppes, almost no crying, unless theyve lost their teat! So i can breathe in relief now! My queen is due soon, but cats are such a breeze during pregnancy and birth, the kitties are the hard ones!!  Ok and i want in on this pole, i say noon your time, 7 pups, 3 girls 4 boys!

Nothing from my baby either.  Shes due today, like you she has been showing signs, cleaning, digging, off her food, sleeping lots. Im also sleeping in the dining room on a put-you-up bed! Soph's waistline has also come back a bit (puppies dropping) xxx

all shes done today is sleep.shes eating again today but temp this morning was at 36.4.whats that white lilly?im sure you converted it for me last time thats a small drop isnt it?
i had a good nights sleep last night i think im getting used to sleeping on the sofa now,it'll be lovely to get back into my own bed tho.

she ate nothing all day yesterday and wouldnt move from whelping box but today is out of her bed and on the floor.i thinks we're going backwards.shes also get a waistline back as you said about sophs,pups have all moved back and are kicking a gooden in there.
COME ON PUPS MUMMY WANTS TO MEET YOU SO DESPERATLY.

pOOR Tamara had my girl not had her puppies, i would have gone crazy! seriously i was on the edge! now i look down and i see their sweet bottoms wriggling around trying to get at their teat! its so cute. Its funny because my bitch is white/fawn, and two of the pups look just like her, and my boy is all black, and one of the girls looks just like him, so i see all white, and one little black body, its hilarious, im thrilled that my lil man has left me legacy! I have had the same line of persian queens since i was 6 years old, so i like to keep it in the family! *the right way!* goodluck on the puppies ladies!

hAHA , my bitch did the same thing, it was if she was taking steps back from whelping!! i guess thats a good sign, she was eating too, and the day before she had practically starved herself...so she might be making some energy! My girls temp was up and down as you remember, and her temp jumped back up to her normal temp about 3 hours before she started whelping, and it just stayed at that...sooo.. dont trust her!! dont take her out for a bit ! Has she made a bowel lately?

yes there temp does go back up before they have um :) thats why its  good to keep a log of her temp ,but it will drop more than its as and then go back up before whelping :)

ok shes been out for a wee had a few bits of food which has been on offer all the time,went toilet(bit of diareea)dont know if this is good or bad sign??panting still but has calmed a little and is now sleeping but sounds like shes in a little discomfort but nothing official yet.will keep letting you know my lappy is staying on.
