I have rabbits, and it’s always been stressed to me that having a vet you trust and who has good knowledge of the species is of paramount importance. Bunnies are delicate animals and they can go wrong so quickly, it’s super important you get the right treatment asap because it’s no exaggeration to say they can go from hopping around perfectly fine in the evening to dead of gastrointestinal stasis in the morning without intervention.
Dogs aren’t quite so immediate in general, but the same message applies. If you don’t like your vet for whatever reason, vote with your feet.
Find a better vet. I’ve tried quite a few and settled on my current surgery where I’ve been for at least 15 years with various animals from pets to rescued wild hedgehogs.
This thread sort of reminds me of so many internet questions I’ve seen which are variations on “I was sick this morning and my period is a day late, am I pregnant?”. Why ask a bunch of unqualified internet strangers rather than, I dunno, taking a pregnancy test and seeing your GP or family planning centre or other appropriate medical professional?
