"Will your aunt's dobermann not need training to "stop" attacking? Or will it do that "naturally"? "
Yes, Auntie's doberman will do that naturally.

I think what Tohme is wondering is why, when Dobermanns are used such a lot in other countries, are they hardly used at all here? Is it our climate? Or our laws (even police dogs are not allowed to bite, and I believe 'personal protection' dogs are forbidden unless specially licenced and handled)? They aren't used as guard dogs by security firms. I have never seen them as anything other than pet dogs.

I have read about Dobermanns and I have met quite a few in my time; my question remains if they are considered the premier dog for this purpose why are not more used in the UK?
There are lots of different breeds used for searching and tracking all over the world, it happens that in the UK Dobermanns are way down the list after GSDs, Labradors, Border Collies, BSDs etc etc

I couldn't say why. Why don't you do some REAL research instead of trying to find out this way...on a messge board full of amatuers like yourself who may not know a whole lot about these things.
Do you need some suggestions as to where to begin? You could call your local police office for starters. They may give you some leads. You can ask them if they know who you can ask regarding any military service or emergency personal that you could speak with. You could look through the Internet.. How's that?
