Feeding / Is it ok to feed cocker spaniel pup on weetabix & rice mix? (locked)

I thought I made it clear in my post that a veterinary surgery would be better equipped ( including expertise) to deal with an idiosyncratic reaction to the chip. I'm trying very hard here to avoid being alarmist or come across as someone who worries too much but... my long career as a health care professional has taught me that the uncommon happens. For that reason I prefer to have my chips put in by a vet.
And Goldmali, I take your point about chip and vac but it was common practice to do Rabies jab and microchip at the same time when my guys were young as part of the pet passport scheme at its inception. No problems encountered.

Whatever Jan you appear to be the font of all knowledge regarding veterinary matters, so I will bow to your superior knowledge & experience. Pity the clients of the vets who implant chips in dogs/cats etc that disappear without trace, move & have to be surgically removed etc don't have you at their elbow to help them

Many "sweet old couples" are outlets for puppy farmers.
They have a litter or two to sell from a home environment.

My point was to explain that I prefer microchipping to be done at a veterinary practice because there is the support and expertise available should an idiosyncratic reaction occur to the procedure. I thought this was clear in my post. I'm trying very hard not to be alarmist nor to appear unduly anxious as a breeder/owner but... my many years of clinical practice as a health care professional have taught me that the uncommon happens. It is very easy to become complacent just because most of the time it's okay. How many breeder 'chippers would be able to cope with anaphylaxis, haemorrhage or indeed take responsibility for subsequent infection ? I could go on.
In reply to Goldmali. I take your point regarding microchipping and 2nd vac at same appointment but would counter that it was normal practice at inception of Pet Passport scheme to give Rabies vaccination and microchip at the same time. My guys were all fine with it but one or two were a bit older I guess.
Whoops ! couldn't see my previous post so apologies for repetition.

Could have fooled me ;-)

As this has gone way off the original topic and the feeding forum is not the place for a debate on the pros and cons of microchipping by vets or other individuals I am closing this thread
