I'd still wonder if the Metacam is behind it all as it is known to cause similar problems. Keeping everything crossed here, just wish I had some practical suggestions.
- By LJS Date 20.07.11 18:33 UTC
Yes but the weight loss is the big concern as she has lost it quite quickly and even the vet said he was  quite shocked at how she looked. She is such a good girl though and was so good having the bloods taken etc and didn't  once complain and still was well enough to realise injections = biscuits :-) at least her appetite is still ok !
- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 20.07.11 19:03 UTC
Hugs to moose and hope you get somewhere tomorrow in sorting her problem.

Sending positive thoughts your way for tomorrow xx
- By Teri Date 20.07.11 19:10 UTC
Hi Lucy,

sorry her bloods weren't as good as you were given to believe but that's not necessarily all doom and gloom hun so try not to fret (easier said, I know)

Re the weight loss, since she's been throwing up and having loose/watery motions she wont have been absorbing the nutrients or calories in her food so although it seems quite drastic I wouldn't think it is too unexpected.  She will also be low on hydration, even if she appears to be OK, it will still be less than normal because of her symptoms, again contributing to a more rapid loss on the scales.

Please keep us posted - rooting for you both,
Teri x

Hi Teri yes agree weight loss is to be expected and I am being a worry wart but aren't we all when our furry children get poorly !

Lift all sorted tomorrow as Mike had to go into work so one of my friends is being chauffeur and dog walker for me !

Sorry forgot to say thank you so much for all they messages as it really does help having so much support at times like this !! No misinterpretation of the words written here that is for sure :-)
- By Teri Date 20.07.11 19:18 UTC
Totally understand how worried you must be Lucy - they're part of the family.  I'm a wreck if one of mine has something odd going on (and have a very vivid imagination with my own which is rarely a good thing!)
Having words with Him Upstairs ;-)

Any more news on Moose???
- By LJS Date 21.07.11 09:20 UTC
Yes just back and she is still not good.We are treating her with anti sickness and antacids continuing with Canakur for another 24 hours and she has had another shot of AB's.If she shows no improvement she will go in tomorrow morning and have an endoscopy as it is looking like a possible ulcer. Her temperature has lowered and the liver enzymes are still elavated although still just below the top of normal. She also now has slghtly elevated white blood cell count which does indicate some sort of infection.
Anyway she still asked for biscuits after her injections which is always a good sign !

Very sad there this morning as there was a very upset lady who came to pick her dead cat up who had been run over and died :-(

Thanks for update Lucy, I'm glad you've got them on top of things and have an endoscope scheduled if necessary.
Had similar experience of this, thinking of you and your precious girl

Thats good Lucy, hopefully she will improve and not need an edoscopy, but if she does you know she will be in the best hands

- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 21.07.11 12:54 UTC
i remember many moons ago that stomoch ulcers were being cured and treated with b vitamins and an antibiotic was found to help, something to do with a bactiral cause?.

Might be worth asking the vet if its safe to give this to Moose whilst you're waiting.

Sending her mor hugs better xx
- By LJS Date 22.07.11 04:44 UTC

Thanks again for all your good wishes :-) x

Sounds as if the vet now has the right ABs always think that if the improvement shows within the first 24 to 48 hours then you are working along the right lines and it seems as if you now are, very pleased for you and Moose.
