I think it is heat for muscle, cold for joints :-)  So not sure that deep heat would do your knees any good.  Certainly I've cold hosed several horses joints to good effect.

Hope you get it resolved soon though, it's not nice being sore and uncomfortable all the time.

Interesting!! Thanks you two!

I best wait really until my xray results as tht will only tell me if its joints or muscle... so i will probably wait, feels nice with a hot water bottle over them though, but as soon as it comes off it hurts, but not sure if its cos its burning me ha ha

Ill wait and see and post again when i find out the results! :)

I hear you on knee problems- hurt mine at work just from doing squats all day at work- my knee really swelled was off work for a month and now back (still can't really do my job)- My knee still swells and I cannot squat yet- am doing physio but since the swelling has gone down a great deal I really feel now where it hurts when I try to climb my stairs, or even just walking. Feels like something catches in my knee when I bend and doesn't want to let go and does that hurt, sometimes feels like its gonna pop out- physio told me that is was my cartledge- It was my Mcl and Patela I hurt so must work on strengthening my inner leg muscles. X-rays showed nothing- would need an MRI or a Scope to find out about soft tissue damage.

Have they checked for your meniscus? I asked about that as well :-( Had a lady at work tell me that she thinks that is whats wrong with me and my sister cause they both ended up with surgery on that. http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=jRHF6KY8REA

Wish you the best and hope its nothing serious :-)

> Volterol - I think its called its an anelgesic (pain killer) and cant do you any harm

It's an non-steroidal anti inflammatory (NSAID) and I think in tablet form is prescription only.  If taken in tablet form it needs to be taken shortly after food as with any NSAID it has the potential to irritate the stomach and cause further problems.  My dad is allergic to most NSAIDS and cannot take dicolfenac/Volterol.  I am only pointing this out incase people 'self-medicate' :-)  I believe that the gel can be bought over the counter though.
