Hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I currently looking for a basenji puppy. I have contacted several breeders over the last few weeks and have been let down a few times. Does anyone know of any good breeders that will have pups in the next few months? I stay in nelson,Lancashire, but am willing to travel. Any replies would be most appreciated..........thank you x

Have u spoken to the breed club ? Mamy have litter secretary's who may be able to help u .with a breed like this which is not common its likley u will have to get on a waiting list with a breed u like and wait .probably some months.
Contact breeders in here not necessarily for a dog now but to get to know them and their plans .Once u find someone u like and u are happy with their health testing etc and of course them with u ask to go on their lists for the future.
For show detail breed clubs can help there as well or look at fosse data or Higham press websites
With an unusual breed there is every chance u will be travelling .also now shows are happening again try and get to some to meet people and chat

As above contact the breed club if you haven't yet. There were only 84 registered last year so you may be being a bit hopeful if your looking now to get one in the next few months as breeders may have full waiting lists. I'd say see what their plans are for next year as well as this year and get on their list for next years litter.

Did you realise that Basenji's.are a very primitive breed and generally only come in season once a year around January, like wolves and other wild canids.

As has been said go through the breed club, arrange to visit some shows and then breeders and get on a waiting list.
