We've got a mouse in the garage and he's raided the dogfood so I'm on the lookout for either a galvanised dustbin or a plastic one with locking handles. Does anyone know where i could get one from? Is it possible that if the dogs ate this food it could cause diarheea(sp)?

Oh I hadn't thought of that. We've got West Country Farmers or something like that in Glos. Worth a try, Thanks very much.

Ikea do smallish metal dustbins - I use one for my dog food - a pack of Burns fits in nicely
I use the cheapy plastic dustbins from B&Q. The lids fit reasonably well

I use the cheapy B+Q ones too for my horse feed. Never had any problem with rats or mice getting into it and it's kept in a barn on a farm.:-)

I have a plastic storage container from Ikea with a lift up lid, it can take about 26kg of dogfood in it. One of my best buys!

I would throw out the food ange.
And remember if you are going to pour out the contents of a bag of food into a container, make sure it is a food safe container designed to store food.If using a bin or similar keep the food in it's original bag.

Thanks everyone lots of choices there. Unfortunately I didn't throw the food away, I didn't think about it until they were both suffering from a tummy upset. In future I will just store the bag of food in a container and won't open it until i bring it in home.

Which brand of food do you use? Possibly you could get a food contaner from the reps if you ask nicely ;) We have a number of Eukanuba ones for our food and a pedigree one which have all lasted well :)

A determined rodent (and his/her friends!) can make minced meat out of a plastic container if they put their minds to it!! :-)
