Hi all

My 5mth old pup had super bone as a young pup, he has eaten well right from the start and has been fed a quality food (ARDEN GRANGE) he has gone up on his legs now which of course they do at this age, but I may be panicking for no reason but his bone looks a lot finer, hope he isnt going to loose anymore, is there something I can give as a bone builder ?  He does have goats milk about twice a week (reluctant to give more incase upsets his tum) I did wonder whether to give him calcium tablets but some people have said NOooooo ??

Any ideas please?

Not an expert on this and not sure what breed you have.
But my last litter which was my first litter, I was advised by my mentor to feed the pregnant bitch fresh red meat, boiled chicken lots of puppy milk etc: to help her and the development of the pups.
Pups are now six months old, we kept a boy, and his bone is doing great, I fed him on puppy milk along with his other foods right up tell he was 5months old and he has alot of Red meat, steak, fish, eggs, cheese.
I am one that believes in what you feed your dog is paramount, my pup is now bigger then his mum!!!

I have always found pups seem to go lighter in Bone up to about 14 months in my breed and then it seems to come back, but it could of course just be an optical illusion as they body and coat up with maturity from tha gangly young stage.  In my experience if they ahd it as babies they will ahve it again on maturity assumeign they are good doers and don't get a set back in their growth.

I agree..Noooo...Too much calcium can have catastrophic effects!

All i can advise is to give as much fresh foods as you can,meat,raw meaty bones,cottage cheese,yogurt,a little bit of fruit and veg.

No dog IMO,can grow to it's full potential or be at it's healthiest on a diet of nothing but processed food,no matter how good the brand is.
