This is a tough one. I had somebody e-mail me today via one of my websites (using an e-mail form) and I really want to get back to them. However the email address they gave does not work! It was a yahoo.co.uk one and the bounced message says no such yahoo.co.uk address exists.. I have tried variations of the spelling of the username as well as yahoo.com instead but no luck. I have their IP address. Does anyone know of any way I could find the correct e-mail address?

Try googling the IP address, might bring up some extra info

Try yahoo.com on the addy. I have been told though, that yahoo addys can be a bit suspect, windup types use it, so it could be they don't really exist. just a thought :)

Marianne

I have a contact I want to e-mail that has a Yahoo e-mail and It always bounces back  I know it is a valid mail address as was given it by somebody else who has been communicating with them on it ?

I have never got to the bottom of it and was only thinking about it again a couple of days ago to re visit the problem to see if I can sort it out as would really like to contact the person.

It is possible that yahoo are treating your e mail address as spam.  We often have this problem with aol, yahoo and hotmail accounts.

Hi all

I've tried it all I'm afraid -tried yahoo.com instead, tried spelling the address in different ways, tried Googling the IP address -no joy. :( The message I get back says:
Remote host said: 554 delivery error: dd This user doesn't have a yahoo.co.uk account

Hi..just a thought..have you put yahoo.com. instead of co.uk...cos I made that mistake with my daughters..hers was yahoo.com. my grandsons was yahoo.co.uk oops sorry just noticed you tried that

Did you try a whois search for the IP address? It would be a very remote chance that they would have their own server/domain but you never know.

Only other idea would be to google for their name and hope to find a search result with their email but I'm sure you've tried that one. Note on your website saying please contact me your email doesn't work?

Did that too Lori -think I'll have to give up! Whois only gave a result for a domain host in Holland, which probably is the peroson's ISP, and I have put a great big message on the website. Never mind, can't be helped It wasn't the end of the world, it was just one I did want to reply to.

How do you get someones IP address,i thought that was private? Marianne did someone leave you a nasty e-mail?

I get IP addresses logged on my website and guestbook, so I don't think they're private.

With normal e-mails you can also easily click on view message source and can find the sender's IP address that way.

No like I said it was via one of my websites using the e-mail form I have on there. (I put it up after web bots kept stealing my e-mail address for spamming.) When I get sent messages that way it states the sender's IP address, but the person has to fill in their e-mail address on their own, and they probably made a typo somewhere. It was just an enquiry I wanted to respond to.
