Great News about your cousin!!!! :D
I know someone who did that. And even their witnesses didnt know until the rode up to the church on their bikes, completel with biklers padded shorts!!!! (Push bikles) LOl
As for your mum, I am afraid I donnot know. in one way if it had been someone I know that it had happened to I would say throw the book at her and make an example of her so it will make other older people think twice before driving (we have a major problem around here with old people driving when they are not up to it)
But
as its the other way and its your mum, I would say she must feel so guilty anyway and will live with the guilt for the rest of her life so would be better to go easier on her.
Sorry not much help, just showing there are two sides to everything

You have way too much on your plate at the moment.
You really need some chill dust to make you relax.

I wish she would admit that but there is nothing :mad: She has never said anything yet that makes me feel she has taken any responsibilty for it. She said the solicitor suggested she pleads gulity  I would hope she would have done that anyway

Too much on my plate no I am fine Lea ;) :D

Lovely news about the wedding - and no family disagreements to deal with for the bride and groom :)

The court case is not so easy to deal with but wishing you strength to deal with whatever the outcome is.

Driving without due care and attention carries a maximum fine of £2500, 3-9 points and a discretion to disqualify and /or until re-test passed.  I really think it'd be best for your mum to surrender her licence but obviously that's up to her.

From the POV of the lady that was injured the maximum sentence won't be enough - in fact the charge won't be considered serious enough when you look at her injuries - but the law doesn't allow for the consequences to be considered in these cases.

It's highly likely your mum will lose her licence over this and that's something she needs to be prepared for.

Good news; great, a happy story.
Bad news; It's not bad news, closure one way or another , hopefully a good pay out from the insurance and the injured lady can get on rebuilding her life. Your mum can accept the punishment whatever it is is, if she has a conscience she will probably never forgive her self and will have to rebuild her life too. So they both will need support from the respective families. A sorry accident lets hope both parties acknowledge it was an accident.

Lovely news about your cousin!

Not so lovely news about your Mum - its a shame that she is not facing up to her responsibilities - but Lucy - it's not YOUR responsibility hun - you cannot make your Mum feel guilty about it if she doesn't (although I know for sure, I most certainly would!)   You could suggest that if she were to voluntarily surrender her licence it might cost her less .....I would imagine that she will be disqualified for a certain amount of time and may well be directed to take another test before she gets her licence back!

And yes, in my professional opinion, you do need some
