Does anyone have experience of this condition in dogs please?

What does your vet prescribe, if anything, to alleviate the symptoms?  What do you do in terms of prevention?  Have you successfully treated mild episodes without veterinary intervention and if so, how?  In the beginning, did you have the condition investigated, was anything significant found and did it lead to any particular treatment?

Any information greatly appreciated, thanks.

I had a dog that was diagnosed with this.  She had an endescope which showed blood in the intestines.  They also found helicobactor present, which was terated with panacure tablets.  She was also put on cimetidine and antepsin for two weeks.  Also her B12 levels were down and she had to have Vitimin B12 injections for four weeks.  I was lucky in that I could control her problem by diet alone.  I had to stop feeding her her usual diet (minced chicken and greyhound maintenance) and fed her James Welbeloved fish and rice and duck and rice.  She never had a reoccurrance. In some cases if diet alone cannot control it steriods can be used.

My sister's dog had this condition and although I can't remember what medication she was put on. I do remember we changed her over to a dog food called Oscars. This was the only food that ever worked for her.
