How often to you give your dog a raw bone? And do you ever have to eventually throw it away?
Molly chews a bone for about 1/2 hour, then buries in the garden for a few days, digs it back up & has another chew & then hides it in her bed, where it absolutly stinks. I don't like to take it away from her in case she frets where it is.
Any ideas??

Bones rarely get thrown away here...Shay either eats the whole thing

or it kicks around the garden, getting buried and dug up several times until it's practically a fossil  They're always unearthing old bones from who-knows-where. Doesn't seem to do them any harm so I pretty much leave them to it...unless they try to bring them in the house, in which case I draw the line. Garden is fine...living room rug is another matter altogether!

I think that I'd ditto that, unless there just seem to be too many lying around which they seem to be ignoring, then they get thrown away :D :D Tara is our bone burier - and she also tries to bring the muddy bones into the house :D :D :D They seem to enjoy a game of 'who's got possession of the bone' - they respect whoever has it, until it gets left, then the other nips in and steals it :D :D

Molly isn't allowed her bones in the house either, but the other day there was knocking noise on my bedroom wall, someone was trying to bury their bone behind my bed, dirt all over the wall & pillows!

Mine are allowed fresh bones in the kitchen (usually in the winter), but once they go out, they stay out :D

Mine get fresh knuckle bones at least once a week, sometimes twice a week. I do have to fling them out though as sometimes you look out into the garden and it looks like a graveyard thats been dug up! They have some really old bones in the house, that have got past the rotten, stinking stage :)
