Anita Roddick, founder of the Body Shop empire, died suddenly due to a brain haemorrhage. she was the same age as me and i met her at the beginning of the 80s, when tbe body Shops were just beginning to take off - she was a fantastic person - a real livewire, but someone who kept her feet firmly on the ground.
she was ahead of her time, in that she sourced her products carefully and was very environmentally aware - back then we bought everything in little plastic bottles and took them back for refills - no fancy packaging - although it looks much the same now the chain was bought out a couple of years ago i think by l'oreal [i think].

OMG

What a shock for her family..............but a nice way to die

(if there is a nice way)...............no long drawn out illness

After seeing someone suffer with a brain haemorrhage, or should I say without my mum she wouldn't be here today, the signs a few days before can be bad! The family just thought that she had severe flu or something of the like.
Was really shocked to hear the news today.

My friend's Son died two years ago from a Brain hemorrhage. he had blinding headache the day before, but as he had been erecting a summer house and it was hot, he thought he had heat stroke. He screamed in agony in the Ambulance when he died, though he was still alive but without brain function for several more days. Very sad, only in his mid thirties, leaving his Mum (with who they lived), witfe and two daughters.

Such sad news. :( May she RIP.

I've just seen this, it is very very sad, she was obviously a brilliant business woman, but also seemed a lovely lady and was far too young to be taken :(
I really liked her and am so sorry she's gone - however, it was quick and relatively painless which is a blessing really.
Just wish she'd not been taken so young.

sad loss of a fantastic lady, who bought natural beauty to the fore, lumps, wrinkles and all! One that gave the message to make the most of ourselves, yet not worry about size, age, or shape. I remember a poster outside one of her shops, cant remember the exact words, but of a lady with a curvy figure maybe in the places we wouldnt always want, and saying only 1% (or another low figure, cant remember it exactly) of women are supermodels.
Naturally sourced goods, no chemicals, no packing waste. far ahead of her time, and from what I have read a lovely lady too. Gather the hemorage was bought about from her suffering from HepC which she became infected with following a blood transfusion after the birth of her child.
God bless and sleep tight.

The only thing I'd like to add to the list of condolences is a hearty thanks for everything that you've done for me personally (surely I'd have drier skin if I didn't use Shea Body Butter) and for all those in countries less fortunate than ours.
She was an inspiration.
