Hi, Has enyone experienced this:mad:Today my son went to check his wages in Naw-West bank to find that he had made six transactions out at work as he was working long hours of 95p £2.20, £4.49 ££2.50 £4.95 also a £3.15 To find he has been charged £210.00 He is now over his small overdraft so they are charging over overdraft charges. On Telephoning them they say this is the charges for drawing off his cash card at work. He told them he was a Bar Supervisour and he could not get to a Nat-west cash point.
That is still there charge and he will be charged now because of his overdraft untll his next wage.He has now no wages to get to work to pay his bills ect: I am totally discussed. If I had not seen it, heard it,
I would not have beleved it.

I have a Natwest account but never get charged for transactions or cash withdrawals unless the cash machine tells me there is a small charge for withdrawing cash.
It seems very strange for what your son is being charged, and I would certainly investigate this high charge of £210!! that does seem right at all.

My OH is just going through the process of claiming his bank charges back from his bank account, there is a company that do it all for you and you should eventually get back all bank charges you have ever had on your account, such as £38 for a bounced cheque, it doesn't cost the bank that amount to have a cheque returned, or £78 for a returned Direct Debt, many of our friends and family have gone through claiming their bank charges and have won back quite alot of money! :D
If anyone is thinking of doing though, will need to hurry as the rules are changing soon as banks have got wise to people claiiming bank charges!!

claiming his bank charges

excellent idea, can do it with credit cards too, there are websites and ISP who show you the letter formats so all you have to is fill in your details and post, they advise you every inch of the way! Banks have just paid up, but I gather because there ahve been so many doing this they are going to try to tighten up!

Hi,
Yes £210. I thought they had made a mistake, it MUST BE £2.10 But!! NO
I rang the Nat-West 24 hour line for him as they fobbed him off,  and asked them to explain how charges were made up in general. they said You have to go throught to Nat-West lending, I asked why and they said this is the charge for all transactions made through these machines in the Public house. He only has an Nat-West switch card:mad:I am going to find a way to get his bank charges sorted. As last year they were late paying his wages in and his car insurance went out direct debt. The Bank said the direct debt can go out 2min past midnight and your wages may be paid in at 12 noon. But! your direct debit is returned with £50 banking charges plus the £50.00 puts you in overdraft so it is £25.00 a day charges after that confused:

Yeah it's sickening really. Could he call into his branch and try and speak to somebody face to face........maybe it could be waived!
