Marianne where do you live?????
I know my partner is allergic to cats but.. LOL

I live on the borders of South Yorks/North Lincs/North Notts.

The numbers are breed numbers. Each cat breed has a number, Exotic Shorthair is breed 70, and then the number after shows the colour. Persians were the first  breed to be given breed numbers so they only have one number, i.e. number 1 is a Black Persian, number 2 is a White Persian, 3 a Blue Persian etc. An Exotic is a Shorthaired Persian so, a 70.1 is then a Black Exotic, 70.2 a White Exotic etc. It's a bit complicated but after a while you learn your own breed's numbers fairly well and it means in show catalogues breed numbers can be printed so breed and colour of each cat is mentioned, without having to waste space typing out the full description -same goes for pedigrees etc. For instance, a BlueCream Tabby Point Colourpoint Persian is a 13b18 which takes up a lot less space. :)

In a way the breed standards as they are numbered by the FCI could be used in the same way as an abbreviation, 242 for Norwegian Elkhound Grey.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, Am sure I will be up in Cleethorpes soon, not TOO far away, if you just give me directions to your house, easy access into it through a window, and give me exact location of the dogs, I will Save the horrible looking kitten from you so you dont have to see its terribly ugly face every day :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D LOL
Ah, I think the numbers make sense!!!! LOL :)

Just saw this, he's a real sweety, you must be so pleased - and who cares if he's not quite as typey as he could be?
He'll be great to pass on those lilac genes ;)

I love the photo with Ripley - she's such a softy, motherly girl isn't she. He's gorgeous Marianne. :) (BTW, I don't live too far from Yorkshire and my new car will need a good test drive ;-)) OH loves cats and really wants one - shoving the golden decoys in the back as I type, bwha ha ha
- By Goldmali Date 05.09.07 15:55 UTC
Watch it I might throw about ten cats your way ROFL!! Especially hubby's badly behaved Maine Coons!!!
- By Dakkobear [gb] Date 05.09.07 19:52 UTC
Oooooooooo I'll take any unwanted Maine Coons - can you throw them as far as Fife? :D :D
- By ChristineW Date 05.09.07 20:42 UTC
You don't want something as common as a Maine Coon - you want something different like a Selkirk Rex! ;)

Regards,

Christine

Hopefully soon-to-be owner of a lovely black tortie SR queen!
- By Goldmali Date 05.09.07 20:49 UTC
Some days I'd REALLY like to try LOL!!!!
- By Lori Date 06.09.07 07:45 UTC
Ooh, there was a Maine Coon that lived near us in Hexham - we almost popped him in the car as we drove by. Even I was tempted! arming myself with piriton and opticron just for saying that :)

Hubby would take them all. He especially like cats that demand attention then dig their claws in you for your reward.
