A friend of mine without internet has asked me to find out about writing to a death row prisoner Im probably the wrong person to ask considering my "hang em high" policy of late....that and the fact i reckon they are all volunteers!!! but i said i would try to help!!i found one website which lists many by their counties/states but to be honest, from what i can read. most of them are either godsquad or pleading for money to fund their lawyers so does anyone know of any other sites to  help her?

Someone who temped with us earlier this year did her post graduate research on 'death row' prisoners and spent a year in the states to do so.  I'll ask her but from previous conversations I can't imagine she'd recommend it!

I know it doesn't help, but I'm just curious as to why she wants to?

Perhaps it would be more useful if she joined Amnesty International, they have an urgent action network where you write to the authorities on behalf of prisoners of all types (including death row inmates in the states) who may not be guilty or who are political prisoners.

because (i asked that too!) she feels that at this time in their lives they probably need a friend who is non judgmental and shes retired witha heap of spare time and  a kind heart.

Sam, can't you tell her there are far more deserving places she can give her warm heart than those on death row? maybe not put quite like that .... I hang em high too, in fact I would be more than willing to wear the mask and pull the lever.........

Ditto, what about the Army, Air Force, Navy, a lot of them would love someone to write to them and many of them are in need of a sympathetic ear and much more deserving. :-)
