Hi - I've noticed tonight that one of the pups has been sick, she has white "stuff" in her mouth which I am assuming is regurgitated milk?? They were all wormed today with Drontal puppy suspension. The leaflet doesn't mention any side effects, all the other pups seem fine.......should I be worried???
I only noticed cos she seemed a bit "off".....all the others were running after Mum when she went into the whelping box, but this one didn't.
they are 15 days old.

Vermicides are strong chemicals designed to kill living things they are bound to have side effects.  Every formula seems to disagree with one litter or another.  It may just have upset it's digestion but you need to observe how it goes and contact the vet if you are concerned.

thanks - don't want to over-react :rolleyes: She's curled up with her siblings asleep now and she looks more relaxed. Maybe she had a bit of tummy-ache and was gripey earlier. I guess I fuss more over the girls cos there's only 2 of them and we lost the third one very early......(mental note to self to chill out and stop worrying so much :rolleyes: )

One of my litter did this :( He was very quiet for a day then joined in as normal. When I wormed him the next time using the same wormer (yes, I spoke to the vet) he was sick again, but again was fine after a day. I've told his new owner not to give him that type of wormer again as it looks like he doesn't tolerate it, and to tell his vet so that it can be put onto his records. He is a fine looking lad now and growing well. He is now 15 weeks old. :)

Well I shall try not to worry too much tonight and see how she is tomorrow. She's usually a keen feeder so fingers crossed she'll feel better tomorrow.

In what way white stuff????
Dont know if pups can get it, but white stuff in mouth could be a sign of oral thrush.

that's what I thought Lea....like partly digested milk, but I didn't think dogs got thrush?? So I just assumed sicky.....
she's definitely quieter than usual, but if she's had a good feed she'll just want to sleep anyway....so the only thing I can do is see how she is tomorrow and hope she feeds with her usual vigour!!

the way my son had it when he was a baby was like he had a film of milk on his tongue and mouth. That stayed there all the time, and didnt disappear after feeding. I wasnt breast feeding at the time, so dont know the implications of the mother getting it.

well I did a quick check of a couple of the other pups mouths (little blighters can't 'alf suck ) but she is the only one with the residue.....I did notice a couple of pups were wearing it tho, so she might have regeurgitated her milk over the others?? Not a huge pile of sick anywhere, just like a residue, bless her.
I can only put it down to the wormer. I know one of my other dogs didn't get on with panacur granules when he was an older pup, he was up all night with bad tummy, but I guess I didn't expect a poorly pup at this stage (a bit naive really when you think that up til now they've only had mother's milk, and then they get this 'orrible pink stuff shoved down their gullet :rolleyes: )

well thankfully she seems fine this morning - I'm just monitoring her feeding now, and fingers crossed she doesn't sick it up....but she's lively and eager to feed, so I reckon it must just have been the wormer made her feel a bit icky

Really pleased that she is ok, you are bound to be worried after all you have been through.
