What should I do on Sat?
I have entered Merlot at  The Welsh KC show on Sat and she has blown her coat and is nearly bald.
The Judge likes her as he has placed her well in the past, I am working a night on Sat and it would mean a long day and even longer night looking after the drunks of Yeovil !!!! but I am reluctant to waste all the money I paid for entry fee's. She is still the same dog without the coat, her shape is great !! "Small Boast" but the finish is not quite the same!
Do I go for the day out, Merl loves the individual attention she gets on a show day. Meet my friends, enjoy the day and (Not that I ever do) don't worry about her placing, I still take the best dog home in my oppinion  !.
I am meeting a prospective puppy owner at the show so there is another incentive. Do a bit of vetting at the same time  And I have promised to handle one of my Pups as well as the owner is having problems with her behaving in the ring.
Oh! what shall I do?
Patiently waiting for the OH to get home from work....he works tooooo hard, Occupational hazard of owning own buisness!!! :mad:Red wine having a funny effect on my reasoning !!!!

Well if it's a breed whose main thing is coat I have to say I wouldn't take Merlot.  I've had Pomeranian's who have lost their coat just before a champ. show and especially if it's a long journey I just haven;t bothered taking them!

She is a Bernese, coat is important but as a working breed not THE MOST important?

Depends if you're desperate for the day out or not, but as you're working that night maybe not :D I never liked people to see my girls without their clothes on  It meant a lot of wasted entry fees but I prefer to take them out when I knew they looked like a ticket winner. Yes, they were the same shape and moved as well without their furnishings, but were likely to get knocked by a lesser bitch with a better coat at the time.

I think I must be completly hooked...If the weather is dry I will go and enjoy my day out. I may not take Merl in if she looks awful but she enjoys the day out too

Sometimes, I am sure that our girls haven't just taken off their coats, they are right down to their underwear  !

If she has no coat, her conformation should show well!    Take her - there will be other bitches there without coats, I'm sure!

Get youself there and enjoy it.
We,ve missed three agricultural shows due to them being cancelled through foot a mouth and my girl looks fantastic at the moment so I,m not too happy about it, come Darlington show time she,ll probably be in the same state as your girl but she,s going as we need a good day out withdrawal symptoms are setting in fast.
So you just get along to the show and good luck.
