Hi Ya

Has anyone on CD's got married abroad, I can't look at long haul due to over the hill parents on both sides  but love Cyprus, travelled there for years but never seen anyone get hitched there.

Anyone share their thoughts would be great

Thanks Kirsty

I got married in Jamaica, too far for you but it was fantastic. We stayed at a Couples resort and the wedding came free with the room :-D We had very little preparation to do and the ceremony was lovely. The Reverand Horace Rose was very warm and sincere. It didn't feel like a rushed resort wedding in the least. They did everything so I had no planning to do other than get our personal details to the resort a month in advance for the license and make a couple of choices when we got there regarding flower colour and cake. On our wedding day we went for a workout in the gym, had breakfast, went for a swim, got married, went back to the pool  No stress, no worries, no large debts. :)

Got married in good ole Las Vegas!

It was quite easy to arrange and loved it - didn't have any family or friends there though!  Which in hindsight I think it would have been nice to have a few close friends to share the fun!  Wasn't an Elvis chapel or anything mind you!!!

Have a video of it and it brings back lovely memories watching it!

(Sketchy sig Rach!!! :D ;) )

My OH's Brother lives out in Cyprus, there are some stunningly beautiful areas (what time of year were you thinking of??)
The Troodos Mountains are gorgeous and get snow in Winter.. you could be taken to the tiny chapel up there by a mate of mine who does Husky sled rides!! :D (we ski in the winter then go lie on the beach!!)
Aphrodites pool is lovely.. couldnt get more romantic! There is stunning scenery where ever you choose so the photo's would be lovely :) If you choose Cyprus let me know & I can let you know about hotels.

ooh how exciting!! tell us more! when are you planning for??

Well I am thinking quite in advance Sept 2009 so I can save my money up :cool:we're currently having my engagement ring made(he is yet to ask me officially though!)

We go to Cyprus most years either in May or Sept,we're off to Nissi Bay this sept & thought it would be ideal to hunt down some places, it is a place I would love to live so I am most jealous of your OH's brother Huskygal, can only afford to holiday there at the moment.

I would love to marry there because it is a place I hold close to my heart with the wonderful holidays and times I have spent there, also not to far for family to come with us

I'm house/dog sitting as my daughter is out there at the moment.  Her friend gets married tomorrow. :)  I have to say that I wouldn't have been happy if she'd got married abroad although I can understand the temptation. ;)  She (not me) invited 150 to her wedding and many of them couldn't have flown. :(

Hi Wizaid
My sister got married in Cyprus 4 years ago. 16 family members went out to the wedding. It was an absolutely fabulous wedding and I would recommend it. She got married at the chapel in Paphos, a beautiful setting. A wedding car took her to the chapel and her reception was handled by the hotel. The food was marvelous, everyone went out of their way to make it special. To be honest if I could have my wedding day again, I would choose to be married in Cyprus. If there is anything you would like to know if I can't answer I will ask my sister. Good luck

Hi Jane, wow sounds like you had a great time  My main problem I seem to have at the moment is finding a tour operator who deals with weddings in cyprus. Also I would really like a proffesional photogragher to do my photos

Like I said to HG I just the love the place so much it seems right

Kirsty

Although Jamaica and Las Vegas does sound appealing to ladies just a bit far for the old folks  if it was me and just the OH I would do something like that !

We got married in las vegas too :D :D with regards to the tour operators go into the travel agents and enquire as they were fabulous with us, we didnt have a whole package with anyone lol we had flights by virgin, the wedding was through direct holidays (or similar) and the hotel was booked through another company the travel agent saved us a fortune doing it this way..

Hi Wizaid
Not sure who my sister booked with but she had a wedding co-ordinator who arranged everything for her, flowers, cake , photographer. She came and brought the flowers in the morning and was at the chapel and at the hotel until the meal was served to make sure everything ran smoothly. I will find out who she booked with and let you know.

Hi Kirsty, I was looking through some travel brochures today and I thought you might like to know that First Choice deal with weddings abroad. They have a brochure dedicated to weddings and Cyprus is one of the destinations in there. They deal with everything by use of a wedding co-ordinator. HTH
