Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Houndshow - Saturday 4th August
- By Houndlover [gb] Date 30.07.07 21:57 UTC
Hi
Anyone showing at the Houndshow ?

I will be showing a Pharaoh Hound bitch in Post Graduate - can't enter Greyhound pup due to judge.

I wonder what the showgound & car park area are like - muddy / dry ??
Anyone local to Stafford know?

Yep 3 Elkhound bitches in Veteran Puppy and Open as well as the stakes.
- By Soli Date 31.07.07 07:44 UTC
Yep :)

Will be there with a Pharaoh bitch and the Grand puppy.  Hopefully the two breeds won't clash like they have at almost every other show! LOL

It is bad enough trying not to get clashes with the oen breed and stakes let alone two breeds :D

It's a bit wet underfoot at the moment, some fields are a bit soggy and there is some flood water still around rivers and on the flood plains but we've not had any rain for a few days so it's looking hopeful.  Drove past some flood plains today and they were significantly dryer than yesterday.

Will post again on Thursday is that helps, we're about 7 miles from the showground.

The 7 day forcast reckoned rain in stafford for Thursday but dry the rest of the week.

no idea because for the 1st time in years and years i am not going......i couldnt facethe prospect of what infernal lash up the judge would make!!

Saturday has a forecast of 26C and sunny intervals - we've not got any significant rain due until sunday when it's heavy showers but there is a light shower expected early tomorrow morning (thursday).

Well at least we are first in the ring at 9am, though of course bitches might not get in until about 11, I think 26'C is a bit hot for a double coated spitz breed.
- By Soli Date 01.08.07 19:05 UTC
Yeah Grands are first in and Gideon's in the first class so at 10am it hopefully won't be too hot.  Pharaohs are on after Junior Handling so goodness only knows what time they'll be in!  My girl must be one of the very few Pharaohs that doesn't like it hot  or cold - or windy - or raining LOL!

It has been roasting hot here in Staffordshire(I'm very close to the showground)and you could almost think it's August!!!! I live on the River Dove floodplain and although the ground is still a tad wet, they are making the silage and hay here at last, so perhaps you'll all be basking in the heat on Saturday after all? Also, having spent a hot day at the Bakewell show today and seeing the poor dogs panting, you'd perhaps be best advised to bring plenty of water and towel coats for keeping them pups cool too, just in case.

Two Norwegian Elkhound dogs and one bitch, assuming I can get up early enough.

Congratulations to Debbie with her Pharaoh bitch Leela gaining her 3rd c.c. today.

My own bitch, Patti, won Post Grad.

I also saw 'Brainless' as she was benched directly opposite.
(I did see the N. Elkhound puppy won best puppy in show)

does anyone have a catalogue from today??? i need a quick bit of info!!
- By Brainless [gb] Date 04.08.07 22:44 UTC
Simply lovely for the novice owners who are new to the breed.  They also got the Dog CC with the puppy, not a common thing for a Norwegian judge to do, as under FCI system dogs under 15 months can't win CC's.

Thanks Pam :d

I think Houndshow must be my lucky show as that's the 8th ticket we've won there with three different Pharaohs.

Did anyone hear anything about the parade of hound packs? Was it cancelled because of the foot and mouth?  My Mum came with me and was really looking forward to seeing it.

Hi Debs,

Congratulations for yesterday.

Yes the reason the packs were not there was because of the foot and mouth and also the judge works for DEFRA! From what I here a lot of the DEFRA staff were called back into work.

Ahhh ok Pam.  Thanks :)

Well done to you too on Best Puppy at the Hamilton Club show/Houndshow :d  Gideon got second out of two in his breed class  LOL  but he got 5th in the Pup of the Year stakes so that made up for it a bit :d

In Puppy Dog their were 2 litter brothers;
Cammonstone Justice & Jupiter.

I missed seeing my old Isle of Wight/now Scottish friend Janine Dymott.
Years ago when I lived on the Island we travelled together a few times to shows.
