St Mellons show on the 8th July is the latest show to be cancelled due to the extreme weather and the state of the ground.

Sorry. Dont know about those two. I understand that the Chepstow Agricutural Society are having a meeting tomorrow evening to make a final decision about their show at Crick on the 11th August.

Hi everyone
I just called St mellons sec and had a conversation with mr Wagstaff who totally lost it on the phone. I basically asked if the exhibitors were going to be notified about the cancellation. His reply was very rude and said it was impossible to notify everyone and then hung up on me.
I realise this is a stressful time for him but there was no need for that.

Because I couldn't get a word in when I called, I've posted a letter asking for a full reimbursement for entry of dogs and catalogue.

Minehed show has reimbursed entries.

Hi everyone
I received my cheque back from st mellons today. Shame it was cancelled.

i wasa going to do the ob there. Shame.nice show :(

I think it would be nice if exhibitors asked for part of the money back, surely the Clubs have already paid for catalogues etc. and it's not their fault regarding the weather. I feel so sorry for all of the organisers.

I agree to an extent, but it's looking like Wales could loose a lot of the August shows, so it does get expensive

Also wouldn't this come under their Insurance?

we have had ALOT cancelled in ob,it dopsent really seem to be the done thing to ask for the entries back at any show,BUT ob entries arent usually anywhere near the cost of breed.

I have just checked and the two shows that have so far been cancelled have cost me £45, remember these are Agricultural shows where you have to buy extra passes etc, so sorry but I can't afford to loose that sort money

I said some of the money, not all of it :d :d Gosh how many dogs have you got entered at the agricultural show?

I have entered 3, but only show two, entry is cheaper than an extra pass, but still needed to buy a pass too, my two children do JH so 4 of us go :)

Same here Lydia, we had entered 2 dogs for st,mellons & chepstow and they were between them in 4 classes for both shows, plus catalogues, plus extra passes Like you for husband as some of the shows you only get 1 pass, it soon mounts up. I dont think any of us can afford to lose this amount of money especially when you have entered quite a few shows and they are then being cancelled.
Ok yes if they had moved the dog show part to a different venue but you couldnt travel to it say for instance you felt it was too far then yes I dont think you should be re-inbursed as the show is still going ahead and its your choice not to attend but when it is totally cancelled then all monies should be sent back.
We had been told that st, mellons were only going to reinburse part of the entry fees, no catalogue fee would be reinbursed as they were going to send the catalogues to all the exibitors as they have already been printed and they would also be taking a admin fee out of the intial entry fee.
Now whether this is true or not I dont know but that was told to us at our ringcraft on Thursday night.
Kodie

Entry fees should be coverd by insurance, also when a secretary is rude it does get peoples backs up and want their money back. If a show rallies round and does their best people are very forgiving!
Back in 2000 during foot and mouth my Grandad was seccretary for a show that was held at wood green, god manchester. We moved it to a school sports hall and tennis courts in stevenage and all exhibitors were very friendly and helpful about it. Was a nice show but alot of work, yet not impossible, to inform everyone to the change of venue for a show that had been at one venue for a very long time!!!!
