We use it and found it great.

I used to use Burns but have changed to this and am very pleased with the results. One is on the Light as she has a tendancy to put on weight  at the drop of a hat (Maybe I should try it!!!) and the others on the Maxi Adult...they love it.

I changed both of mine over from Burns to Royal Canin about a year ago as the Burns didn't keep wait on mine and have been very happy with it since!

Friend swears by it... I personally don't like it for my dogs..I have found the beet pulp causes  an orange/ red discolouring around the eyes in my breed.. and orange/red discoloring to the feet in another breed a friend has. This discolouration stopped when transferred to a beet free food.
- By CALI2 [de] Date 24.07.07 12:18 UTC
Thank goodness the beet hasn't had that effect on mine as they have four white feet:eek:
- By tychlo [gb] Date 24.07.07 15:13 UTC
jennybasenji.....My friends had white feet too, it took months for the discoloration to go... Not good on a schnauzer, She was penalised for it on his furnishings for months in the show ring. Dont think this happens to every dog thats fed it,and otherwise it seems an ok food, depends weather you want to chance it having that effect on your dog in the first place i suppose..In royal canines defence though any food with beet pulp in can have this effect.

Thats worth knowing about the beet pulp incase anyone in my breed decides to change over to it as as a breed they all have white feet! I do know of a couple of people in my breed that do feed RC and they have also been lucky that it hasn't affected their dogs.
Thank you for that Tychlo

I would like to know where this idea comes from that beet pulb causes discolouration.. I thought the only part that was used was colourless. The outer part isn't used.

Here is what Iams where saying when they got a hard time..

<a class='url' href='http://us.iams.com/iams/en_US/jsp/IAMS_Page.jsp?pageID=A&articleID=354'>http://us.iams.com/iams/en_US/jsp/IAMS_Page.jsp?pageID=A&articleID=354</a>

I would be suprised furnishings changing colour. Simple things like the ground being wetter some times of the year are enough to make a change to the furnishing colours.

What brands of food are beet pulp free?  is it not very Few?

Going by that link then it doesn't look like the beet was to blame for change of coat colour then..

Nope does appear conflictory with what we were told by our vets.. I cant understand why though on changing from the food, the discolouration stopped dispite no other food?titbits being included in the diet... I suspect the theory of sustances on floor etc causing dicolouration, and agree..That would not account for around a dog eyes though, so i guess its rather hit or miss.

i find with one of my bitches is that to high of protein in food  tinges her white coat pink as i,ve said before chappie chicken/rice solves my problem also found when she was on high protein (as she is at the moment as she has week old pups) she seems to overheat and scratches a lot

My puppy is doing very well on Royal Canin (Maxi Junior). It suits her better than Arden Grange; that is what my older dog eats.

My dogs are on it Nell (Lab)  has always been on it and Gollie  (Giant Schnauzer) is on the  puppy one even the border terrier loves it so yes I would recommend it

I've been feeding Royal Canin to my dogs for many years. They have all done very well on it. Now that they provide different foods for different sizes, and ages, there are plenty to choose from, to suit your dog's needs. There is even special food for certain breeds now. One of my oldies is on Sensible, the other one on Mature, both looking great and keeping fit and happy on it. My young bitch is on Light, since she puts on weight easily. Her coat is shiny, and she's very well muscled. I've also weaned my litters on it, with no problems at all.

Izzy has been fed this since August last year,so nearly a year, she looks fine, Molly on the other hand never enjoyed it so she has Burns :)

I use Royal Canin on my puppies/young dogs and I have been very impressed with it.  My last 3 litters have developed extremely well and I will continue with it in the future.  I also use the HT42D for bitches in whelp and again very pleased with results.

i use to use burns and to be honest meals times where quite an ordeal, my girl did not put weight on or indead really enjoy it, after advise from other giant breed owners tried royal canin giant and have not looked back since. Storm enjoys her food, has put on weight and has a lovely shinny coat. Pup arrives week tomorrow and she will be put straight onto giant puppy.
