Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Very fussy 10 week old pup

Hello,
Curtis is now 10 weeks old and very very fussy. Much prefers to eat out of his older sister's bowl when she is eating but of course it isn't puppy food she gets! If I put his food down to him (Nutro Puppy choice and a bit of minced meat) even next to her's, he isn't interested at all. He looks a bit clapped in over the loin.

What can I do? Even transferring his food into her bowl doesn't help! What can I do? He weighs about 6 and half kilos presently. A litter sister is eating double her normal recommended daily amount, Curtis is lucky if he's eating half the rda!

:( Not good as he is intended for the showring.....

Could you feed big sister on puppy food for a short time to get him eating with her ,or try pedigree chum puppy meat, mine have all loved that

good luck Lorraine

I always find with poor feeders that if I give them some raw mince of any kind of meat really that usually gets them going again.

mixed a good quitily meat cat food in with the nutro its always work with me,or warm up nutro in the mirowave with some olive oil,or pilhards in tomtoes.

Hello everyone,
He's off Nutro for a bit..... Went to see Brian at Redcastle (Animal Feed place) and he said "stick him on something cheap and nasty, he'll probably love it". So I bought a bag of Supadog or Supafeed by Burgess? Puppy formula. I know it's not that nasty before I get complaints but it's a hell of a lot cheaper than Nutro! He ate quite a good amount, just dry from HIS bowl, now I'm going to feed the others, may just put it in Mia's bowl too.

Have tried raw minced tripe in his food, just heated a little in the micro but Mia's food always seems more tantalising to him....boys eh? Fickle, whatever the species!!! ;) Will see how he goes on that for a few days but I'd prefer him on Nutro, wondered if it's because it's lamb he's not taken with it, maybe the large breed formula which is chicken would be more appealing? Does a Munster constitute being a large breed?

My lot aren't keen on any of the lamb formulas in food, and the fussy one won't touch it at all. with her only Arden Grange will be eaten consistently!

Hello, so this topic is alive again!

Curtis is eating brilliantly now, he decided expensive diets weren't for him.......

Went onto Burgess Supadog puppy (Chicken based) and he's never looked back :D He's a lovely puppy shape again and he's so very very handsome..... (No bias there!)

Thanks everyone for your help!!!

Christine :)
