When looking at numbers of entries in champ shows Whats the difference between entries and Dogs??!

I had assumed that 1 dog could be entered into multiple classes so you may have 2 entries but only 1 dog for example.  But they seem to also have times where dogs is higher than entries?  So what does it mean - are these dogs that are entered not for competition.

I know there will be an obvious answer and i'll feel really daft but hey!  I'm new!!

I have never seen more dogs than entries so I expect you are right.  As you say the smaller number is the number of dogs and the larger number means some are in more than one class.

Not necessarily - I think if look at GS mittels at Leeds there are more dogs than entries - this is because some of the dogs are entered only in the Champion or Vetran stakes, the dogs are entered, but the entries are only given for entries in the breed classes.

Also dogs entred NFC are counted as dogs as they need a bench, but not as entries

That can't be as the entries in stakes are counted as entries, as often we ahve no secodn entries in bred classes but soem ahve entered stakes and they show the different figures.

Yip  I believe for example;

100 dogs making 105 entries  means  it is 100 dogs with 5 of these dogs entered into a 2nd class.

That's not a silly question, it's a very good one. My guess would be the NFC entries too, but I'd be a bit confused if I noticed the numbers being that way round. :-)

On a slightly different point, if you enter a dog as NFC is it ok to take a different breed to a show eg take my toy breed nfc, when entering my other dog in a pastoral show.
