does anyone know if this is still going ahead, i know it is a few weeks away, but they have cancelled some events at the venue due to the weather,
just wondering if the leeds champ show was one of the events cancelled
carolann

It's still 2 weeks away. I do hope that it doen't get cancelled. I hopeing to get to bradford that weekend to check out new house I should have done yesterday but due to weather en route it was hard to get up there. I know that across in Bradford their are no floods but not sure what Leeds is like. If the venue is ok then they will use it, the problem will be, if anything, traveling up.
I would not worry. South wales move has been told to everyone now I think an word spread very quickly indeed so if anything is heard about Leeds I'm sure here will be one of the first places it is mentioned!!!! :D

I looked at the site to see after I posted on this post and I didn't see cancelled anywhere.
I must be going blind!!!! :D

yep Otley agility is sadly cancelled along with some other events..but Harewood didn't say which events they were.
from Agility eye: "Because of the condition of the ground, Harewood informed us that they have had to cancel a number of events and ours is one of them.
Otley DTS would like to apologise for any disappointment, but obviously this is out of our control. We would be grateful if this message could be passed to anyone you may know who had entered the show and doesn't have internet access."
ummm...and when I look at the Harewood scheduled events I don't see any other Harewood events cancelled...
Anyway.... I think Leeds Dog show is very much more prestigious for Hardwood they wouldn't cancel it lightly. In three weeks it could dry up enough for the show to go on.

Fingers crossed! It's almost 3 weeks to go. I'm not entered, never go as we never have breed classes, BUT I am meant to meet up with a breeder there to view the Papillon I might be buying so am counting the days!

I've just rang Harewood, and they state its upto the "Promoter & organiser" to cancel the show, Harewood have not been told by the promoter etc at this time they may indend to cancel etc. so at this point Harewood still state Leeds is still planned to go ahead. But the lady did say to call back closer to the show just incase things have changed

Oops forgot to say, apparently Harewood held 2 concerts this last weekend, and both went ahead.
well i will just contact them closer to the date shame about the otley show i knew that was cancelled got the message this morning,

they bring in heaps of money...unlike dog shows. The champ show though should be worth a decent amount to Harewood. It's all about profit. The agility makes very little income for Harewood so any damage to the ground caused by the event or by cars parking isn't worth it. I've half a mind to go check out the field for myself cos I'm sure it is fine..we've not been hit by the floods here and although we have had showers this week it is over a week since the downpour that caused the floods in S.Yorks. I'm really quite sure the Otley show was cancelled by Harewood and not Otley DTS.
i had a friend who lives near harewood 5 min walk away, and she rang me to say that her fields are fine and she does not understand why they cancelled the agility show i said it proberly due to any damage made by the agility people putting there cars on and off the field and the 300 plus dogs that run in one class at a time may kick the ground up a bit, and otley might have to foot the bill which i could imagine being quite a lot .
we really have not had any of the terrible weather conditions where we live that i have seen on the tv around the country you heart goes out to all those people that have lost everything and some familys have even lost loved ones.
carolann

I would think it would continue, don't forget the ground has to be much safer for handlers and dogs in agility than it does for us in the show world.
yes the speed the dogs turn on and i have seen dogs slip in even the driest of conditions if they take a jump and land to turn straight away there back end can go from underneath them or i have seen them slide on there front shoulder and crash into the next jump.
i am so looking forward to leeds just hope the weather starts to improve by then

okay I got to hear the show field area where we needed to be for agility because it is the only field big and flat enough was absolutely waterlogged..it was a swamp. So other events booked for that field like the car shows were still held but were able to be moved to a different area and the cars were parked on some pace with hard core. By now I'd think it'd all be dried out anyway.

Has anyone heard if this show is still going ahead? What's the weather like up there? I'ms still deciding whether to go or stay at home to read the last harry potter book (yes I am one of those sad people that will be out at midnight to buy 2 copies, one each for me and the OH!)
Jill
anyone heard how things are for e.o. england cant remember layout is there any harcore sort of paths or is it all grass?

EOE has path between rings and benching I think. However up this neck of the woods (I'm 45 mins south of showground) the weather is lovely. Sun has been out alot and today it's REALLY nice indeed :) (Infact last night we had dinner outside in the garden for the first time this year!!! :D )
i,m in wales nearly floated away yesterday

We are supposed to be having our fun weekend for the breed again next week and I'm just wondering whether it will be cancelled again for the second time as it's just rained ever since and we've had no sun. I just can't believe this weather, I'm wondering whether there's such a thing as the sun at the moment, although I must admit it's been quite nice here today up to now.

Really????
I went to Lodnon for the day today and it was loebly and sunny and dry!!!! Went on the london eye and could see for miles!!!!!
Had dinner outside again!!!! :D Really can't see the problem with the weather from here :D

Have to say it has been gorgeous all day in Manchester today. Managed to mow both front and back gardens although my back is suffering now and took some photo's of my two boys.

Our front garden looks like a jungle :D Hubby is going to tackle it as soon as he finishes work on Monday (if the weather holds that is, LOL)
i,m in N wales to had a glorious day today BUT what will tomorrow bring?

Hmm well it doesn't look to promising now Welshie but i'm sure there's a sun peeping behind those clouds somewhere :D

Both gardens been kept tidyish and cut! :) Can't see anyones problem...But then we live on the top of a hil, bet if I was in Bradford at the moment it would be a diff story! LOL

Any weather news update for Harewood please.
Ive been told the ground is water logged but is still going ahead, wellies and flippers I think.

Seems like it's going to be bad tomorrow and hopefully improving slightly om Sunday!

glad i didnt enter.

We're not far away and it has just started raining here. Had a couple of horse shows cancelled over the next week locally.
