Okay based on the family in the news who sold their home and gave up their jobs brought an old coach - converted it and are now off round the World for 18 months. They have three children 16, 12 and 9/10 if memory serves.

So if you were going to go round the World how would you travel??? and where would you go?

luxury liner for a year to travel round the world including the artic and antartic, then on to a tropical island - suitably cleared of all bugs and covered by huge rain brolly of course- can't have anything spoiling paradise, then back to scotland for a few weeks each year (god's country dontcha know!!! :D :D). Now i just need to win the lottery - otherwise i'll just have to stay put!! :D

I would love to go round the world in an up market camper van with all the facilities including pool, gym (to work off all the wonderful food I am going to eat), air conditioning and all the rest :)

If I were to do such a thing, cars, coaches, camper vans......... no way, hubby and I like our comforts. It would have to be plane, nice hotels, then ship to cover the planet as it would cost so much, we probably wouldn't ever be able to do it. :-D

I want to do it by train:   across to Paris, pick up the trans-Europe train up through France Germany, get to St Petersburg, then pick up the Trans-Siberian, then across to Beijing, from then across to Japan, right down through Japan, back to Asia, to pick up the trains through China, Vietnam down to the south ........haven't finished off the route yet - but you get the idea :)

(Maybe its because my Grandpa was an Engine Driver :D :D D:)

If I went with OH, it would be by train too - he's a steam enthusiast :D :D :D So we might meet aboard, Margot :D :D

A couple of our really good friends have just come back off a six month round the world trip.

They had a great time and either flew, took a train or hired camper van :D

I think we would opt for one of those massive camper vans that are the size of a house or arrange to stay in 5 star hotels :D :D

Me too :D :D I have to have a clean loo :D :D :D I don't like cruising - too many people and too regimented, with lots of people that I'd wouldn't get on with - I have to be able to escape :D :D :D

Only trouble with trains is apart from open countryside you only see the ugly side of towns and cities.

Ditto to the floating hotel.

I would do it on a bike something like a Harley with a tent strapped to the back
