Topic Dog Boards / General / Really sad and frustrated :(
- By Dill [gb] Date 16.06.07 13:51 UTC
I'm not sure whether I'm really very sad and frustrated or really angry and frustrated :(

A very very dear friend has become acquainted with someone who breeds dogs, several breeds, at least 2 litters at a time, pups aren't hard work as they live outside,  etc and feeding her a load of b**sh**  - you get the picture :(

She now tells me she went to West Wales with the woman to watch 2 bitches get mated, out of curiosity!!  One at a private house, several breeds there and at least one pup as well as stud dogs - altho they claim not to be breeders, "you can still shift pups even if they aren't registered" and they are lovely people!!!  the other bitch went to a farm, the place (huge barn!!) where all the dogs (of all sorts of breeds) and pups were kept was really clean and the man was really lovely and the dogs and pups were really happy     She wouldn't have a problem buying form either as they were really clean and the people were really nice!!!

I'm in despair   this friend spent 16 years living with the dog from hell which they had from a similar place.  I helped her find a lovely KC breeder for her next dog, he's lovely and she is still in touch with the breeder 7 years on.  Yet she appears to have learned nothing from her experience.

I'm also left wondering what the breeder is up to  why on earth is she taking spectators to matings??  Why is she feeding my friend such absolute b***?

Going to bang my head on a brick wall now, maybe I'll feel better after it

Some people never learn, and while they don't we will still have puppy farming going on.!

Perhaps she's looking for a partner in her enterprise??

That's what I'm wondering, this woman seems to have 'partners' in WW and may be looking for someone to 'help' in her venture closer to home.  A very scarey thought, I can't see my friend as being able to cope with a litter of pups or all that breeding entails etc :(    Unfortunately she does find it almost impossible to say NO to people tho :( :(

Unfortunately this happens in every single breed and even long time dog people seem to get taken in which really shocks me

What clinched it for me, apart from the 'big barn full of dogs and pups' was that they were quite open about not registering every litter from a bitch as the KC won't do it but that's ok, because the pups still sell     They were so open about it!!!   I tried explaining why the KC put limits on how many litters they'll register from a bitch but I'm not sure she believed me :( :(

Thing is, I'm having to bite my tongue a lot because I don't want to alienate her by being too over the top   Especially when the other woman is so easy about it all

Oh Well, it gets better

Boxercrazy was right, she was after a partnership  Luckily my friend really doesn't want to be involved with breeding, especially this venture, it really does sound like puppy farming and dealing and my friend has been shocked at how many bitches are being sourced  :(   but apparently the woman's found another partner.  Breeding stock (several breeds) is being found on the net, health tested? registered?  - not likely, it's 'cheap as chips' as long as it's 'pedigree'  and apparently the pups are easy to shift - by the cageful

Hope I never meet this woman because I'll end up in a police cell

On the up-side my friend has come to the conclusion that it's just a money-making excercise, and now she understands why she ended up with the "dog from hell", I'm now giving her info on welfare issues, but softly, softly ;)

That sounds soooo suspect to me!
Cant believe your friend didnt pick up on it, after her bad expierance as well.......

Maybe you should ask to go and see for yourself, and if nesscary tell them a piece of your mind (a massive piece) and report the venue as puppy farming. I deffo would without a hesitation.
