Does such a thing even exist?
I have been looking everywhere and just can not find one!
I need a SS crate, it would be for my Parrot when we go on holiday (her cage is too big to move).
I would like her to have loads of room(well a crate similar size to her "home" at home. So only option would be a foldable cage(as it would easily fit in the car).

Most crates are zinc coated which is poison for parrots so definate no.
Coated crates I can not be sure if they will hold parrots beak and that they are definately zink and lead free. So Stainless steel is the best option and guaranteed to be safe.
But after searching and not coming across a single one I have started to think maybe there is no such thing!
So Champ dogs is my last desperate try to find one :)

That is the only crate I can find but then the same crate in other web-pages (well same make and picture) says electro plated which is no good for birds.
I have already e-mailed the shop & the manufacturer to check if the crate is SS or plated...
I thought it would be easy to find one as in my head SS would be the stuff to use when making a crate that will not rust, will last "forever", easy to rub clean, strong etc... Obviously not!
Would the ones vets use be SS? Anyone know a page that sells stuff like this for "professionals"?

How strange...you would have thought there would be a high demand for stainless steel crates. Will keep looking!

I'm now thinking that crate is NOT solid stainless steel! Way too cheap. I have found stainless steel parrot cages but not foldable ones, and you're looking at £999.99 at the cheapest up to £1599.99 I didn't realise stainless steel was so expensive, but maybe explains why it's not used for dog crates.

Yeah, the price was what made me doubt the cage you suggested and Googling the make I came up with same cage different material.
I knew it would probably be expensive but I'm ready to pay as it should last...

I would think somewhere like vets they might be ready to pay more as their cages surely have to be easily disinfected etc... Can't imagine a coated cage liking that!

I think only the doors are stainless steel on the cages they use in a vets. Thinking back to the 3 times I have been into the back room to visit our dogs when they have had to stay over due to illness or surgery, I'm pretty sure the cages have been just like these ones.

Think you are going to be hard pushed to find a foldable stainless steel cage - seemed like an easy task to begin with!

Hrmm, I might be wrong actually :rolleyes: Just seen some others pics where the sides and floors/ceilings are made from metal (I assume stainless steel) sheets!

Just a thought but you could ask the guy at Barnesbrook. All his cages are custom made and he does other types of metal work not just car cages (engineer and inventor). He might make a SS one for you, he's very nice and very helpful. It would be worth a call.

Says it is powder coated for safety so powder coated dog cage woudl seem not to be out of the question???
