We spotted a dead dog at the side of a nearby road today it was probably a yellow labrador I rang the police who had no interest even though I pointed out that if it had not been reported then a crime had been committed. I rang the dog warden who had gone home for the weekend, so then I rang a local vet who said one of their clients had lost a yellow lab today in same area.....i asked them to ring their client but they said no, they would wait to see if they rang the surgery again Is it just me  surely someone its someones responsibility to collect it and scan for a chip??? I was very sad at this attitude.

That is awful. Where abouts is it Sam as if I can help Pm me the details and I will see if I can get hold of somebody through Lab Rescue in the area :)#

That's terrible.  At that response rate the poor owners would be faced with a horrible sight. What if foxes and crows get to it? 

Around here road kill gets picked up really quickly so assume that the council responds quickly.  Trouble is, as you've already said, it's the weekend.

It used to be that dogs could be picked up after an rta and the owner would never know despite collars being on the dog as no-one informed them, not sure if it's the same now...seems a bit like it

Unfortunately once this has happened it is left in the hands of the council workers to dispose!!!

Thats so sad.
I can't believe the vets wouldn't ring the client that had lost the lab, I find that a disgusting attitude to have.
Poor poor owners, my thoughts are with them.
