It seems a shame to post this in light of those excitedly expecting puppies in the next few days.
On the down side, I, we (the OH) have been devastated with the loss of the pups last week. It's like the final nail in the coffin of having lost more pups than those that have survived a total of, 3 beautiful girls and 6 poor souls in a better world.
One has to think if its time to stop breeding and enjoy the dogs we have and rely on others to do the hard and sometimes the heart breaking job of whelping.
We have spent many years in the breed and carefully chosen the bitches that we have and wished to breed from. Of course this breed is renowned for difficulties in whelping but not known anyone to have had so many loses comparatively speaking.
This was the third time we have been excitedly waited for the pups with their futures mapped out , names chosen only to wipe clean again the puppies room to an empty, soul less shell

This is posted because of what is in my head and not for a debate on the pros and cons, and the whole breeding ethics thing.

Good luck to all you expecting babies soon and to those who have those precious wee bundles and those sleepless worrying nights

I do so feel for you at this sad time. Only you can know just how much pain these past few days have caused, but having lost pups myself I do know how much it hurts. Take time out and grieve for those you have lost, it's only natural. Thinking of you and your OH.

My mum says with the Pomeranian's that's it, never again it's too much heartbreak but we've still got them 27 years down the line!!!  I must admit I couldn't breed Pomeranian's because of the hard work that they are.  In my Spanish I've only lost a couple over the lst 15 years but even that's heartbreaking.

Its not so much sad as its like we could have written the script for what was going to happen.
Its almost that we knew the outcome so not surprised.
After 15 years in the breed we will never be without them but I don't think we are likely to breed again.
We have too many negative thoughts that will no doubt transfer to any bitch we would want to breed with.

i too have lost two litter from the same bitch one result was not her fault she court kennel cough and on day 56 she had her puppies bye the four week we had lost 6 of the nine puppies.the second litter she had on day 54th all five died in 24 hour that was it i was not going down that route again i had her spayed.
but hope came long with my swd bitch which she had 5 puppies in april so there is light at the tunnel.so my affix is now in a different breed than i start  out with fcr 20 year ago.

then my hopes fared again in april when teyha my only fcr bitch to carry on my line in this breed die.

so some time i think you got to have time out and think what is best for you.

good luck

Hi Elaine, your post really touched me I know how it feels to lose pups fortunately I have only lost 2 (2 too many) over the years. I too would feel as devastated as you now do having lost your 6 puppies. Breeding is heartbreaking and we all must be mad to do it .
Sorry for your loss and enjoy your 3 beautiful girls.
