Hi
Today Tansy ate a small packet of silica gel, and it apparently can contain nasty stuff like pesticides and fungicides, and can cause problems, so to be on the safe side we took her to the vet. She was given an injection to make her sick, and kept her in a couple of hours to make sure she was OK. When we went to collect her, she must have lay in the sick or something, because she absolutely reeked, and her legs and belly were wet and stinking. We got her home, and much to her disgust we had to bath her. Despite this, she pongs...REALLY pongs.
Now, this wonderful little animal not only sleeps with us, but really loves climbing under the covers and snuggling. Is there anything we can do about the smell?
All suggestions more than welcome. Thanks

This is much what happened to my Kiara and Rio during our move when they ate the epilepsy tablets. Except we stayed with them at the vets so saw just how many times they were sick -and basically it shot out both ends at the same time. They were also given liquid charcoal when they had stopped vomiting. Kiara did need a bath and they did that at the vets for us. Could it possibly be a case of the MOUTH smelling? Bad breath -and farts?! I know it did on ours after having been sick for 20-30 times! It took a few days and then they went back to normal.

Oddly enough, her mouth doesn't smell. The vet said she was sick a couple of times, but after reading your post, and considering the mess Tansy was in, I guess it was rather more than that. She was wet rather than messy, so I suspect she had been 'rinsed off'. The smell seems to be on her though...in her fur and on her skin

Hiya.......you could try the good old fox poo remedy...........tomato juice! put her in the bath and really rub in the tomato juiceleave it on as long as possible [ 5 mins should do] i stay with mine and keep rubbing it in so they dont try to jump out the bath!
then rinse off and shampoo again it should be ok!
hope this helps
