I have just bought a new toy for Lacey from Pet World and I just have to tell you all about it. It's a big round bowl with a lid which has a hole in the middle and in the hole is a big ball which is slightly bigger than the hole. You fill the container with water or anything the dog likes the flavour of (which is watery), and the idea is that the dog licks the ball which goes round and round in the container, picking up more liquid as it goes. It's a fun toy for at home and would be good in the car for the dog to get water while travelling. I think it would also be useful to entertain a dog whilst you are out. Lacey has been amusing herself with it all afternoon.

Don't know what breed Lacey is but Devon one of my labs ate one of those when she was younger. The water was left on the floor and Devon added some mud and herself for good effect:D

I had one of these and it just gathers dust in the cupboard. My lads could not see the point to it at all:-( Couldn't be bothered with gravy or juice and preferred to throw it around and then ignore it. Now of you give them a bone ;-)

Dogs, I find are like children, much prefer the box the toy came in. Tried everything I could think of to wean my last pup off a house brick, all to no avail, I'm sure it did his teeth no more good than it did my toes every time I kicked the dam thing. JH

Jackie I've got a brick chewer/ pebble eater:) The other day Sean flushed some of Kassie's poop down the loo and there was pebbles left in the bottom:) At least her teeth are blunt:) I can't be having this though can I- I'm trying to keep the garden clear now but she still manages to find them!

He likes stones too, I can say there is not a single stone in the area of garden they are allowed in, that is until they dig a hole. Although I never chase to retrieve whatever he is chewing I have said give and replaced the forbiden object with a treat so many times he now comes to me and drops it at my feet before looking up with an expectant expresion on his face. And of course if he gets a treat then they all want one, wonder my lot aren't all over weight. JH

When I buy my little Cavalier a new toy, I'll start building him up to it the minute I walk in with my shopping bags. "What've I got?" I'll say to him in an excited voice "Are you a good boy? What've I got for a good doggy?" He'll follow me through to the kitchen and sit at my feel excitedly, tail wagging in anticipation. Then I bring the new toy out of the bag saying "Look! A new toy for a good boy!" and he leaps around madly trying to get hold of it. Then when he finally gets hold of it, he plays with it for ages. I love this build up to giving him a new toy because I love seeing him getting so eager, and then I love to watch him playing happily with it afterwards. He is such a good boy. I think the build up makes him all the more keen to play with it.
