Hello,
I need to get my passport renewed for a trip in 3 weeks time!!!. My passport ran out 3 years ago. I have got the form but I am confused about the countersignature bit. It says countersignature is only required if my appearance has changed considerably. Well as the photo was taken in my old passport was from 1999 then I have changed. My hair has not changed at all just that I have got older. What is classed as considerable change??

My new photo was accepted even after 10 years. The only difference was the normal aging process! I would think a drastic change of hairstyle, or facial surgery, or something along those lines, would be considered a 'considerable' change. You should be fine. :)

i've just renewed mine & my photo was originally taken when i was 16 so 10 yrs later a look a fair bit different but sent in 2 new photos without counter signatures & the form & it was fine, mine came back within a week but i'd use the guaranteed service if i was you just to be on the safe side.

I was reading through the passport form only yesterday, my daughrer had her passport at 10 yrs old lasting just 5 years. Now she's 16 i wonder if i need to get a counter signature.
Hmm too much to think about!

Yes you are renewing it even if it is so out of date, you have already held a UK passport so you complete the form no need for your photo or form to be countersigned and just sent you old passport back with new photos, just got mine back last week and only took two weeks from the day I sent it. The online process is really easy to use, just fill it in and they send you the form completed and alls you do is sign it and send your photo although you might be a little pushed for time, have fun on your hols x
