If you consider that Star Trek in particular of the Sci Fi genre type of shows had communicators (mobile phones to us now maybe) hand held computers (which we have really with internet ready phones etc and laptops) and various other things;
Do you think/or will it ever be that we are able to be beamed up so to speak?
Yes I am bored..... But think about it things we never thought possible are now possible....so maybe, it will be possible....if not that then what do you think may be the big leap forward.....?

don't forget they also had spray hypodermics (think thats the right name ) and now we have those too for some things. Can't wait till I can be beamed up and they are able to just scan my bod and cure me in a flash :D :D
While I'm being beamed up do you think they'd be able to get rid of any 'extras' I don't want ?? (could work like a complete body revamp :D :D :D I used to look like Cher, now I look more like an overstuffed sofa :D :D :D )
I read somewhere that they are working on it in some paper or other......or did I dream it! :-P
No, I'm sure I read it somewhere, I must say I don't fancy volunteering quite happy with my atoms and what nots being where they are. :-D

We are not far from those are what with the pens for diabetes etc .... how about cars that you plug in and drive themselves we already have sat nav and fingerprint technology on some cars for ignition how about cars that drive themselves, or cars with a built in sensor that slow down or stop when the sensor gets in "danger zone" ie another car or a person. No more taffic deaths/car crashes imagine it...

Makes you think out the box doesn't it.
Good in some ways, but bad in others, driving would be so boring just sat there, always the worry with me when things go wrong too, nothing is full proof, and if technology keeps making things easier and easier for us, we shall soon have blobs as brains and bodies. :-D
No doubt I'll be one of the first in the queue against my better judgment.

It would be great for people like me who can't drive because of disability or infirmity. It is so frustrating not being able to get to many places, or it being inordinately complicated, slow and expensive. Everything is geared to drivers nowadays.
How many shows could you get to on public transport, even if you could afford it. As a teenager I travelled the country by train attending Rabbit shows, yet often faced an hours walk with my trolley and boxes the other end. Now the services are so poor and expensive I wouldn't even be able to do it. You simply can't get anywhere at weekends first thing.

I got towed yesterday by my OH on a bar which meant I had to stear but I didnt need to use my feet and it was brilliant! I was driving but I didnt need to pay as much attention as normal. Plus my foot normally aches when driving but it didnt then cos I didnt need to use them! :D

Pocket calculators were the real big expensive new-fangled gadget when I was doing O-levels. They cost about a month's wages and
nobody had ever seen one. 'Regular' computers filled a room (I went on a school trip to IBM and saw them) and used punch-cards to input data.

When I started work in the early 80's our computer system was a microfisch remember those.

Oh I wish it were true, I love visiting other countries but am starting to detest flying - especially long haul. It would be so great just to beam somewhere for a few days - and think what it would do for our carbon footprint :D :D

I don't think anyone who has seen the Fly will want to try out a transporter :D

I'm a huge Trekkie fan, it would be great wouldn't it! I'm sure I read somewhere they'd managed to transport a particle or a molecule or something, think it could be a while before we can be beamed up though! :-)

I am a trekkei too, so sad they won't make any more.

There was an afternoon play once (don't get to listen to them much these days - only when I am driving somewhere) and it was set in the future. A machine sent you (beamed) to Australia in this case. A lady was going to her son's wedding in Australia and something went wrong when she was sent. It seems that the machine replicated the traveller at the other end and disposed of the original body - although the travelling public were not aware of this. In this case it didn't work properly and when she arrived by conventional means in the end it was to find another her there already. She was stalked by a sort of police because they had to dispose of her - very creepy!!!! Good story though.

Do you think your new body would be thinner and younger? If so they can sign me up to dispose of this one any time :D . I'll have Angelina Jolie's in exchange please :D
