HI peeps,

i want to get some new bedding in time for whelping, long time yet.
what do you recommend genuine vetbed, profleece or whatever? please let me know what you've found to be the best and value for money, best washability etc
and wheres the best place to buy? any good sites etc

My husband buys vet bed in bulk from the manufacturers and sells it on ebay. We wash and wash ours and not wanting to comment on the quality (don't want to push this on here) you can check his fab feedback and see for yourself how people are pleased with it - his seller name is yeharrr.
The traditional type vet bed would be what you need for whelping not the latex backed type.

I bought one proper vetbed and one profleece for my whelping box.

I would give the vetbed 10 out of 10 for:
Easy to wash, soaks up majority of soils / liquid, Easy to cut into size you want etc

I would grade the Profleece at 6 out of 10 as:
Thicker stuff but does tend to not soak up as well as the vetbed.
More bulky when trying to wash
takes longer to dry after washing,
and pups have been able to pull some of the woolly fabric off as they have got bigger!!

and I bough the Profleece off a local breeder who advertised in the local pet shop

I found buying vetbed in bulk was cheaper then buying a particular measurement from a pet shop or other, as you probably know you need more then one piece of vetbed as while one is being washed the other is being used!!

I get mine from Bronteglen, buy 5 get a 6th piece free.  I use the non-slip backing for my girls bedding and the ordinary vetbed for whelping, washes up great time after time and I tumble dry it, takes all of 10 minutes :)

I've had 'look a likes' before and they were rubbish compared to Bronteglen.

I'm with you on that one!  Their vetbed is great.  I do have an original "proper" piece of vetbed and it is about 10 years old and still going strong though!!

another vote for Bronteglen from me. I've got two pieces i've has for 4 years, and you'd never know they were that old.

I bought my vetbed also from seller on e bay. I bought Dark brown just in case it stained and when people visited it did not look unsightly.
Washed it again and again and its is fine,takes about 10 mins to dry after coming out of washing machine either on the line or over a radiator.Going to use a bit in my other dogs crate for the summer as his duvet will be too warm.  :-)

Never tried this company but they have some great patterns!

I like the Profleeece best, but once pups are weeing unaided a cheaper lighter weight is easier to wash and dry.

ive just bought a half roll of vet bed from ebay for my girls impending litter :D
£60 & £7.50 p&p i should get at least 6 individual beds out of the roll,
i think that works to be a good buy all round :D  

well, thanks you everyone. i went on the websites and decided to order a sample piece from bronteglen and then compare it with some others from stores.
Bronteglen won! and i just received my order from them really quickly and at the moment im testing it out myself lying on the floor watching tv! sad i know but if im comfy on it i know my babies will be.
