Cora my greyhound pup was 6 months old on thursday (3rd) and yesterday (5th) went to her first show - Romsey open show at Quob stables, Durley.
I didn't enter the A.V.N.S.C. Hound as the lowest class was special yearling - I only entered A.V. Hound puppy.  (unfortunately no A.V. minor pup classes either).
Cora wasn't very happy moving faster than a walk on the surface of the indoor riding school - wet peat mixed with lumps of rubber. She didn't move 100% sound on her individual move - yet she was ok outside on the concrete & on the grass.  I believe one of the protruding lumps must have stuck in her pads.
Anyway she got a 2nd, beaten by a older PBGV.
She was outgoing and enjoyed seeing lots of people & other dogs.

Weather permitting - rain forecast- I'll take her to a local companion show
tomorrow/bank hol monday on nearby recreation ground.
Cora is entered for Birmingham on saturday - her first breed class.

Hi there

Thats a great result, brilliant for her first show, well done you 2 :)  Glad she liked all the people and dogs etc and wasn't over awed by it all.

A friend of ours was also at the Romsey show yesterday with her Paps.

Hopefully we'll be at the national on saturday as well, it'll be our pups first champ show but she's 10 months old.

Good Luck :)

Congratulations:cool:

What breeding is your pup if you don't mind me asking?

I'm taking my two KC registered ex-racing greyhounds to the houndclub of East Anglia and Houndshow this year. I would like a 'proper' show-bred greyhound one day though, they really are very different to racing greyhounds to look at, although the numbers of litters and imports etc registered by the KC seem very small, alot of the dogs registered are those of racing line descent like mine.

I was supposed to be at Romsey - had a bit of a large one Friday night though and slept through two alarms, waking up at 8:30

I went to the companion show today as the charity benefitting was the West of England Greyhound rescue (for racing greyhounds).
Whilst in the ring (large class of A.V puppies) the rain decided to fall - Cora wasn't very happy standing out in a downpour.  She was un-placed but her half-brother aged 11 months was 2nd.  Louis has the same sire Canadian import Can CH. Lorricbrook Esquire at Shalfleet.  Wendy who owns Louis lives in the New Forest and now plans to go to the ringcraft I attend at Romsey on a wednesday evening. Best puppy was a griffon & best in show a flatcoat.
Cora's registered name is Shalfleet Just a Crystal she is a blue fawn - her dam is Jackie White's Baldrey Diamond Lil.
I did buy Cora a waterproof fleece lined jacket from the charity's merchandise stall.

I also met another Champdogger - Ooops I've forgotten her name !  She had a rough collie puppy.
