Does anybody know if any vets in the Norfolk Area carry stocks of the herpes vac? I need some next week but it seems impossible to find a vets that has some due to the manufacturing problems.

I have had the same problem a few weeks ago and there is none available, not even homeapathic.I rang the manufactors and they are advising vets not to start a vaccine course as there is none available to provide 2nd vaccine even if 1st one is in vets stock.Sorry its not positive. Gail :) :) :)

i went to a "dog breeding seminar" a week or so ago, with a vet who claimes to be one of the leading westcountry experts on breeding and  whelping.....during the questions session  he was asked about this virus and had never heard of the vaccination or several other current ideas that most "with it" dog breeders are aware of these days.... draminsky ovs and mate-tel being two of them!!! I wonder if these so called experts should get out into the world of dog people, not pet people, and open their eyes & ears a bit??

Its not just the breeding side down here in Cornwall that the vets are a little slow on.  I have a friend who's dog tested positive for mange mites (blood test), I took her to the vet when she was staying with me as I couldn't stand seeing her going down hill, and her own vet told her and I quote 'if she has been treated for the initial infestation she cant possibly have it again'.  The mind boggles.

Hi

I live in Norfolk, and my vet also cant get it any more not until later this year.  He did say though that a lot of breeders have stopped using it because they do not think it has any added benefit.
