Reading through some posts ive seen suggestions of giving capsules instead of liquid to dogs i.e cod liver, evening primrose, was just wondering how do you all work out how many to give to your dogs daily?
I give my eldest Cavalier Omega 3 & Vitamin E capsules He has one of each a day. I wouldn't give cod liver oil BTW
I work it out on a size basis & also what is recommended for humans on a sliding scale, so if it was three for a human I would give one to a cavalier, two for a BC & three for a GSD upwards
I agree with Moonmaiden about not giving CLO. I give FBO, EPO and Vitamin E at the following amounts for dogs between 25 - 35 kgs, 1000mg of FBO and EPO and 400 iu of Vitamin E.
Thanks to you both for your help...wasn't looking at giving CLO, only EPO and vit E, sorry was just using CLO as an example. Can i just ask why you both suggest not giving CLO as i have given this way in the past with no downsides.
Cod liver oil is high in Vitamin A, and too much vitamin A is dangerous. It's a fat-soluble vitamin, not water-soluble, and excess is stored in the liver not excreted safely in urine.
