Is it just me or has anyone else got the same problem? The Croft freedom playpen's base is about an inch too small around the frame, when extending it and added an extra base the gaps are awful. Is this just a fault with mine are they all similar ? Thanks

I don't ever use the base ,think the base is very stupidly designed :-) little pups can catch their paws in it.
I buy a peice of cushion floor about 12 inches bigger at each side and sit the pen on it. It is easy to wash.
Thanks Blue, will go and get some, must admit I thought it was stupid especially if you have a small breed of dog. Thanks for that

I think it has to be slightly smaller to fit in easily. I just tuck the vetbed over the edges.

Meant to say - I just have the one tray as the bed, and the extension as the play area.
yes my bases dont fit either- badly designed i think

I think it would be far better the base bigger than the pen. The cushion floor however is excellent for it. I would rather they never sold the tray and discounted. As it is a tad expensive. I bought 2 recently and the panels..

My pen is an ad hoc arrangement of the biggest plastic base you can get, designed for use in crates, about 5ft x 3 ft and the appropriately sized panels from Croft which fit ever so neatly just inside. This has been big enough for indoor use with my cocker litters with extra panels added when they are outside at which time I don't use a base and let them feel the grass :)
I use mine inside for them to sleep at night when they outgrew the whelping box but have a showman pen outside for them. Think it is a dreadful design especially when you have the two bases in. Will put cushionfloor in for them next time.
Thanks for your replies

Agree that the base is dangerous and not the best but I love the panels.
I used one with my last litter. Agree about the base not a great design but I pushed the 2 (had the extra panels and base) together and then used some old rolled up carpet in the gap at the back and then covered that part with vet bed. Worked a treat as it was in my dining room and the carpet was immaculate after a litter of 7.
