My cavalier king charles spaniel is having a small lump removed from his muzzle on Thursday.  Does anybody know what these sort of operations cost?  Am I looking at hundreds of pounds? If anyone could share their experiences of this sort of thing, I would be most grateful.

I do have insurance but the insurance company require me to pay the vets direct and then make a claim for the money to be refunded to me.

Thanks.

I would guess if it's a minor Op, like I had to have with ny first Yorkie, who needed baby teeth pulling as the second teeth were coming alongside making two rows of teeth! It was about £90 to £120, hope that helps, don't forget to add Path lab investigations too, as it might need to be sent off for analysis, all the best. Dawn X

Thanks Dawn, yes they did mention it will need to be sent off to be anaylised.

This sort of thing will vary from vet to vet. As an example, one of the surgeries I use wanted £200 to neuter a male cat with a missing testicle, the other charged me £40! My vets will always give a written estimate if asked, although they can't guarantee it will be that exact sum.

If it was around here probably about £150 to £200

Why don't you ring the vets and get a rough quote.   I always ask for a quote so I know roughly how much it will be.  They are more than happy to tell me.

Copper had a small lump removed from his head - about the size of a small pea - and it was sent away for analysis.  It was £120 and the insurance paid it.  He was only in and out in a day and it was straightforward.  If there were complications it obviously would have been more.  I'm sure it will all go well for you :) and if you're insured then they should pay out, less the excess if you have that.  Although, I'm assuming this is the first time your dog has had anything like this done because if he's had anything previously it will be "pre-existing condition" and they won't pay out.
