I have a bitch who was mated 12 days ago succesfully with 30 min tie and then again 2 days later, same result.  She is regularly treated with stronghold and up to date with wormers etc... Yesterday she was outside with us and she was scratch, scratch, scratch!!  I can't see anything on her coat but I have some frontline and was wondering whether it can be safely used in case she is in whelp? I have read the instructions but to be honest am more confused by them, if anyone has ever read the side of the bottle!!?

Why would you want to put any products regardless of what they are on a bitch that had been mated 12 days ago. I would wait.  I personally would never tempt fate even if the product is deemed to be OK UNLESS of course you have to.

Edit to say Frontline is supposed to be OK.

Same here I never put anything on a bitch once mated,I worm her before mating and just feel happier not putting anything
on her regardless if its ok or not.

Any foreign substance put onto a bitch that is in whelp could damage any puppies development, so I wouldn't put anything on the coat at all. My bitch is now 6 1/2 weeks pregnant (very obvious ;) ) and has started scratching big time. Like you, I can't find anything on her but just to be sure I use a nit comb on her coat several times a day. If there is anything there you would see either the flea or the flea dirt :( :) It could just be the hormones that are making her itch. I know my skin did when I was pregnant :D

Perhaps you could give her a couple of garlic capsules a day? This is more natural than flea stuff & will repel any that might be bothering her, i would not risk any flea medication on a pregnant female.

is it ok to give garlic powder to a bitch that has pups? the pups are nearly 4 weeks old and are eating more solids  x

Gwen who used to come on here, has experience of Frontline and in whelp bitches...............she believes it makes them absorb the litter!!

Do a search and you'll probably find her old post.

This bitches litter is four weeks old.  It is safe to use frontline on pups from two days old, so doing the bitch and letting ehr with ehr pups at four weeks shoudl be OK, if she dreis off first.
