Hi
one of my bitches had a litter of 3 puppies
the boy has always been advanced up and about first and everything like this
im concered about one of the bitch puppies shes crying in her sleep not all the time but some times and
is like dreams and jittery while sleeping if that makes sence i put her up asap when this starts and wake her but it takes a second before she is fully awake
i would have thought movement in the sleep would have stopped by now ?
but im starting to get worried she isnt very active like her brother and sister although she does have abit of a play the other 2 never stop
has anyone got any advice or had anything like this with one of there puppies?
of course i will be taking her to the vets asap
but in the mean time any advice would be great
thanks

Dont your adult dogs dream? All mine do and growl, whimper and twitch whilst asleep (as do we). Its all perfectly normal.

Yes my adult dog dreams and twitches while he's asleep and sometimes the odd grunt and growl!
Has done from being a puppy too :D
yes my adult dogs do dream
but this puppy isnt dreaming its very hard to explain
none of my other puppyies have ever cried and moved in there sleep this old
the other have always stopped moving by this age
I have always been told never to wake a dreaming dog by touching them as one reaction they can have is fright from being woke this way and could bite.
My adult dogs do this and when i had a litter i had the odd pup do the same i would have to say its perfectly normal
I have a 15 month old who runs and barks in his sleep quite funny and my little 10 week old does the same only her tongue is sometimes out and moving like she is licking something scared me the first time she did it I thought she was having a fit lol but it is perfectly normal... When they wake up I usually ask them did they catch it???
We had a litter of five pups and all had really different characters, one was really fiesty and always up to mischief, the other three used to copy her and follow her lead, but one just used to sit and watch. When the others puppies used to play fight with her she would rather sit by our feet but occasionally was just as involved as the others. She has since grown into a loving pet and is homed with a family who say she is generally quiet natured. We kept the fiesty one ourselves and she hasnt changed a bit. :)
When our litter slept they were all quite noisy, often we would rush down in night to see what was wrong only to find them all cuddled up fast asleep. They never seemed to be still, fighting over who would be in the middle all snuggled up.
Hopefully this will be the case with your puppies and nothing serious but your wise to go to vets if its worrying you.
I agree with everyone else from your description it does sound like she is just dreaming, not sure how old your pups are, but I have seen them having really good movement and vocalising in sleep very young. Your obviously not a novice and have had litters before and instincts are not to be ignored so I don't think you would have posted if you weren't worried, so listen to your instincts we are not there to say for sure.
But, I would say she is just dreaming from what you have said, and would not wake her, if she had colic or another problem she would not just cry in her sleep, but when awake too, is her worming up to date? Don't worry about her being quieter than her two siblings as you know they all have different personalities and characters, but keep an eye on her if she is very docile and just seems not to be with it and if you are worried take her to the vet for a check up you have to trust yourself in these instances sometimes we can just look at a pup and know things are not right that is something you should never loose.
Hopefully, she is just a quiet little girl. :-)
