Does anyone know if dogs fleas can lay their eggs on human hair!

Fleas lay their eggs in the environment (carpet, soft furnishings, space under skirting boards etc)

Thanks Angela, it's just my neice said she could see white bits in my hair, like bits of paint! It's not dandruff, but it got me wondering! I've been out & got special shampoo & flea carpet powder!

Don't wish to sound insulting but it couldn't be nits could it? they are very widespread at the moment and easy to catch as most of the schools are rife with them!

Don't worry, me & my neice had that discussion this morning & had a laugh about it! I only have my boyfriend son at w/ends,he's 14 & only went to the barbars last week & they didn't spot anything. My head's not itching at all. Anyway I have the shampoo, so I'll use that for a while & see what happens!! Thanks.

Nits 'glue' their eggs to the hair near to the roots.  If the white bits are stuck and can only be removed by gripping them with your nails and sliding them down your hair then they are likely to be nit eggs.  You only normally see the white egg shells as the live eggs are brown and are very close to the scalp.  If the eggs are white and are not very close to the scalp and you are not itching then likely you had them and haven't got them now.  :)

"My head's not itching at all"

Your head might not be, but anyone reading this thread has just developed an itch :D

If the white bits were eggs, what you have described is spot on...how horrid!

Happy scratching everyone!

If you use lots of hair products on your hair it can cause a build up and then flakes off - so my daughter told me the other day when she spent £12 on some shampoo that is meant to break down the build up :D

She uses all sorts of lotions and potions when she straightens her hair - or even when she doesn't - so it could be that. :)

Yes I've heard that these products cause build up on hair, the only thing I use on my hair is head & shoulders mild shampoo & conditioner, I've been using that for 2 months now.
Perhaps I'm going through a dodgy phase!
