Topic Dog Boards / Health / Mum's Westie not well. Help!
- By westielover2 [gb] Date 28.03.07 10:17 UTC
My MUm's westie really isn't well, hes very lethargic has been sick twice since Friday and had diarhoea twice again since Friday hes off his food. He saw the vet on Monday vet gave him 2 injections one antibiotic, one anti sickness and a course of anti biotics. Hes going to the vets later. The vet thought it may be a gastro problem however as he has only been sick twice in 5 days and has had no diarhoea this is unlikely. He is seeing the vet again later however my Mum is so worried. They have the odd fox in the garden and Mum is worried that he could have caught something from this? If so what. He really does look ill. Help.

We have foxes occasionally in our garden I had these concerns myself a good few years ago I got in touch with a few people and was told not to worry as they couldnt pass any illness onto them other than possibly ticks.

Sounds like he has eaten something ...you dont use slug pellets in the garden do you ? as they can be very dangerous or even just a slug so can certain plants but really he probably has eaten something dreadful which has  made him quite ill  get them to check his liver check his eyes ...are they yellow  as one of my dogs was vomiting and upset tummy he came over quite ill very quickly he had liver failure [this was  my dog I am not suggesting this is anyway what is wrong with your mums dog]

I am sure after a few days he will be fine try not to worry the vet will sort him out.
