I'm feeling all scared, excited and everything else in a big jumble all at once!!!:-D

We have today been to look at a house, put an offer in and had the offer accepted.

I can't believe how fast everything has moved!! We are first time buyers so I am finding it all abit scary. Have been in my rented property for the last 7 years and we decided it was time we grew up and got on the property ladder!!

It needs sooooo much work doing that it is scary but that is the reason we were able to afford a house in that location!! So I see the next few months being really hard work. Lucky OH used to be a plumber and joiner and builder!!

Just thought I'd share my good news with you all because I can't sit still!!!:-D

Fantastic news Paula :)
I still remember how excited I was when we brought this, our first, house.
Took weeks of decorating and months of gardening etc but knowing it was ours and not someone else's made it all worthwhile :)

wow can't believe it was 11 years ago now

Buying your own first house is soooooo exciting. My son and his wife bought theirs a couple of years ago having rented and then both returning here to live  while they saved up. Don't know who was  more excited, them or us,  when they finally found a place of their own :D

Lots of hard work in store for you but you will be so proud of your efforts once it is done to your liking :)

How exciting for you Paula, I wish you all the best and lets hope your OH gets your house done quicker than mine has, we've been here almost 12 yrs and it's still one of those 'nice when it's finished houses'. lol x

Well what a rollercoaster. We have been gazzumped(sp)!! Estate agent just rung to say that the other people who were after it have been and got a loan instead of a mortgage so are now cash buyers so can complete faster. Back to the drawing board!!:-(

I am so sorry! It certainly is an emotional rollercoaster to move house...... Rare for gazumping to go on these days though, what rotten luck! :(

So sorry to here about your house buy. :( We went for a house years ago and didn`t get it and thought it was the one for us, but a few months later we bought the house we are in now .  I think everything happens for a reason if we had got the first one OH would have had to climb four flights of stairs to get to his bed, and the house we are in now is all on the flat. There is no way he would have managed stairs now so we would have had to sell. So keep looking and I`m sure the right one will come along :)

Thank you both of you. I'm a firm believer if it was meant to be it would be but still sickens you!!

Have seen a house I really like the look of but it is 100+ miles away so now just have to convince OH it would be the right move for us!! :-D

Sorry to see you didn't get it in the end.  You must be gutted but I'm sure the house you eventually get will be the perfect one for you!  Must be so exciting...I've got years ahead of me before I could even think about Buying a house :(

Don't give up until its sold! Ok, it possibly IS, but keep your beady eye open. With a house that needs a lot of work, when the survayors go round, it could well be they find something these people don't like, they may then try and haggle price, all sorts of things can and do happen till that bit of paper is signed! keep looking elsewhere, but don't turn away from this just yet.

I am a great believer in que serra serra! Many moons ago we were purchasing our perfect house in the country, with land and direct access to common land and were gazzumped three times - we increased our offer twice but were eventually priced out of the running.

We later found out that it was the vendor's solicitor who bought the house  but were very relieved when we drove out that way a few months later and saw the roof was having to be entirely replaced due to dry rot. I was really disappointed at the time but so relieved that we had not got the house as there was no way we could have afforded to have undertaken such major repairs so soon after purchase.

You will defininitely find the house that is destined to be yours :)

And thats Karma, Harley :D :D A bit of a conflict of interest there with the solicitor, but what comes round goes round........;)

What's for you won't go by you as my Mum said (often!) when I have been involved in house buying.  Both times we have been looking for houses we have been beaten to it on the house that we thought was 'the one' but obviously wasn't meant to be ;)

I know how disappointed you must be feeling now but, honestly, there is a better house out there just waiting for you to find it.  Good luck :)

Good luck!! We have just sold our house and had an offer accepted on one we like but I am dreading the next few months:eek: Such a stressful time!
- By LJS Date 02.04.07 13:35 UTC
I do hope it all works out for you and will keep all fingers crossed ;)

We are back on the market after three let downs and really getting to the end of the road as sick to the back teeth on the whole thing :rolleyes: It takes over you life and we want our life back :D :D

We are holding out for a few more weeks then that is it off the market and get on with enjoying life again :D
