Tomorrow afternoon, I am abandoning all who live here at Madness Manor for 48 hours - I'm leaving OH to the tender mercies of No 3 son - who has promised to look after his daddy - whilst I go gadding down to Bath with all my sisters :D :D :D
Little sis no 2 was 60 at the beginning of this month, and to celebrate this occasions, we've decided that she needs a bath - at Bath - so 5 of us - me, little sis nos 1, 2 & 3 + sis in law no 1 are tottering down to Bath, to the newly re-opened Thermal Bath Spa, where we shall, in true Jane Austen fashion, partake of the waters, some luncheon, some treatments, after which we shall repair to lil sis no 1's abode in Wiltshire, whereupon we shall partake of much chocolate cake and champagne .....tottering back to devoted spouses on Tuesday morning :D :D :D
So, as I've got a couple of casseroles to prepare, so that said OH & Nik don't die of starvation whilst I'm away - shant be on tomorrow - but rest assured, Thor shall have his birthday treats before I abandon him :D

First chance I've had to come back and report in detail! Yes - we did see the article in the Telegraph - caused a few phone calls on Sunday morning, but we decided to hell with it - we were going anyway! And in fact, everything was really good - we spotted a couple of corners where there might have been the start of some mould - but had it not been for the article, we certainly would not have seen it - apart from the fact that someone was dealing with it - we are talking about a building that has masses of hot water on every floor after all!
It was good value I think at £30 for 4 hours, with full use of the open air bath on the top floor - with a wonderful view of Bath & the surrounding countryside - it was a lovely day on Monday, so to lie there, seeing the steam coming off the water, and with the wonderful light all around was fantastic - and the steam rooms on the 2nd floor were fantastic - 4 chambers, each with different oils - lavender, frankinscense, menthol & eucalyptus, and mountain pine - lovely soothing birdsong/forest type music - and the Minerva bath - where you could swim through currents - well - lets just say that it won't be the same going to the local pool anymore!
We also hired towels, robe and slippers - for £10 - but if we go again, we'd just hire robes I think - take our own towels and our own flipflops/shower sandals - the slippers we hired were those little terrytowelling fabric ones - and our feet were immediately wet!
We drove down, in one car, Jimmy Hendrix blasting out (this from a car containing 5 old bags :D) and drove back to the accompaniment of Neil Diamond - and wrapped up the day with a delish. chocolate torte (Delia Smith's receipe) and champers!!
So I think you could say that we had a wonderful day - we worked out that the last time that we would have got wet all together would have been in 1962, in Torquay!!!
Our total age: 310!!
Margot

It sounds absolutely brilliant! :D :D What a wonderful girlie fun time you had. :)

Excellent, Margot - I'm glad that you had such a fun time :) The years just roll away when meeting up with old friends/family don't they ? :D :D Hope that you now feel refreshed and ready for the traumas of CD again :D :D
I had a meetup with 7 old school friends back in January - we nearly got thrown out of the restaurant as we ended up singing the old school song rather loudly (Forty Years On) :D :D :D

I just fail to see why men wear toupees :( Mostly they can be seen from a mile away and so look worse than if they weren't wearing one :D :D :D I
love bald men :D :D (Well, I
have to say that ...... :D )

I once worked for a chap who had three toupees - one v. short at the back, one medium and one longish - he would wear each of them for about two or three weeks each, then he'd pat the back of the longish one and say "about time I had a haircut" - and would come in the next day in the short one! We all knew about it, but never, ever let on - but it did crack us up!!
AND NO - THIS IS NOT AN APRIL FOOL - IT IS TRUE!!

LOL, Margot :D :D :D I just can't understand how these people feel 'better' wearing these ridiculous things - I'd be SO conscious that it was SO obvious :D :D :D
