Hi all, I would like to know what those of you that feed Burns think of it please. I am thinking of getting a bag of the mini-bites.

i feed 2 of my dogs burns and have nothing but praise for the food
my dogs coats are beautiful and are in fantastic condition.
however my 3rd and youngest bitch when on burns could not seem to mantain her weight so i have had to change her food.

All 7 of my girls are on Burns, plus any litters we have are raised on the mini-bites. Excellent food, keeps their coat in beautiful condition and their body weight perfect.
BUT the only time I find it doesn't do as well as I hoped is at the junior stage, they just don't seem to keep the weight on, I've had junior pups looking like toast racks! But adult and puppy it's great.

I use burns on one of my bitches, she never seemed to put weight on and look a little under weight, but now feeding her Burns Extra she has filled out nicely but not too much!!
I have found it a little diffecult finding a shop that sells the Burns food so now I actually order it online straight from burns.

Thank you everyone.
Is the Burns Extra okay to feed to small breed dogs? Its just that some of the adult food is too big in size.
hi- i feed my cat on burns, and both dogs- one on adult lamb or fish, and pup on mini bites.
i initialy put my dog on it as she was suffering with sensitivity, and now all my pets love the kibble!
the dogs get nature diet wet food too though.
i get mine from the vets worked at, still get my discount so i'll keep getting it from there
dont know about the extra though, sorry

I had mine on Burns from 5mths to about 10 or 12 months I think. She stopped eating it, lost a lot of weight and her coat got a red tinge (she's black and white), became dry and not so nice. I had no choice but to change her food - I think the protein and oil was a little to low for her as her weight and coat came back after the food change. This was the lamb and rice adult variety btw.
I do know plenty of people with the same breed as me who's dogs are doing brilliantly on Burns, just depends on the individual dog as always. I do use Burns as training treats though, plus I have my rabbit on their bunny food with no problems :D

I've always used Burns Active but the last sack was a different recipe and it disagreed with my one bitch, so spoke to them at Crufts and they suggested Burns Extra instead (they lose weight on Burns normal) even gave me a bag free!! So far it's doing the job and the bitch who had a problem is fine :D I've tried other foods and have always come back to Burns so now we stay with it :)
I do think tho for really active breeds and some youngstock the normal Burns is too light ;) but then they do have alternatives :D :D

Both my CC's tend to drop weight quickly. One is 7 months the other 14 months, I have them both on (only just lol) the burns mini bites/puppy. I did wonder about the extra but it has to be small kibble as one of my girls much prefers the small pieces and they are only small dogs :)
