Does anyone know which is the best natural supplement to help with the fertility of a bitch?

Thanks

A healthy bitch should be fertile.  I would say if you need to supplement something to ensure fertility you would have to wonder at the value of that animal in a breeding programme as fertility problems can often be inherited by daughters.

Agree, a healthy bitch will be fertile, however it may be worth looking at the quality of the diet you are feeding the bitch first before you go down any other routes

Indeed, by healthy I would mean eating a proper balanced diet.

Yes, Sorry Isabel, some people don't think to look at the obvious first, what you put in you get out etc. before they rush off for numerous expensive tests

It would be rather an unusual diet that would not give a dog all they require in terms of vitamins and minerals :).  All the conventional ones provide over and above anything a dog can utilise so unless she is seriously under or overweight for example it is quite hard to imagine that could be the cause.  As someone with an interest in a vulnerable breed that suffers from low fertility and aware of at least one other breed in the position where numbers used to be good it is a bit of of bugbear with me that lines with fertility problems are not encouraged.  Although of course we cannot say that is the cause of low fertility in some breeds you can't help being aware that in times of old bitches presenting a problem would have been removed from the gene pool by the large kennels whereas modern hobby breeders with a nice bitch will perhaps persist in seeking ways and means to push the issue.  Of course I do appreciate the OP may not be having any difficulties at all and may just be asking for reasons of seeking assurances but my advise would still be providing the bitch is healthy it is better to leave it to nature to decide, she often knows best.

Thanks for your replies. My bitch does not have a fertility problem. She came from a litter of a litter of 9, so I don`t forsee any problems.

As any caring owner I just seek the best for my girl and what other peoples ideas/opinions are too.

I am always hungry for information:eek: as I like to do my homework and this incorporates new ideas and thoughts.

My hounds are fed on a high quality natural food.

Thanks.

Vitamin E is the 'supposed' fertility vitamin.   However it is the opposite I want - 3 litters of 14!

Vitalin's Bitch diet is supposed to help increase fertility too.

Hi :)

I haven't tried it but have you thought of the 'fit and fertile' product that's available?  Are there gorgeous tri-coloured ones on the horizon then? :d

I have a bitch who has twice failed to conceive and her sister has had litters of 2 and 3.  I tried Pilgrims Fertile 1 and have just had litters!  Also did bloods this time, so not sure which one helped or if it was a combination.  I'd use it again.

Heard also that wheatgerm oil from Dorwest is very good for fertility. This is a great place (CD) to feed your hunger for knowledge, enjoy it
